In browsing through the New Stories section lately, I'm seeing a ton of stories by the same author--notably, by Lovely Latina, but some others as well.

What is your secret? How are you able to churn these stories out so quickly? I scanned a few of them, hoping they were garbage so I could say, "See? They're garbage. I can churn out garbage a mile a minute too." But they aren't.

So, I feel like the slow, struggling sister. Have you a cache of stories you've been hiding for years and are just now dusting off? (That's my secret hope, because I just can't keep up!)

WS,

When you find out the secret, let me know. Like you I agonize over every story. I have lots of ideas, but they seldom turn into stories I'd want to put Dirty Old Man's name on.

I wasn't sure weather to reply to this thread or not. Simply because you didn't mention me by name, but as you mentioned how many stories you were seeing by the same authors, and wondering where we get the ideas from, I thought I'd answer.

In the last two months, I have sent in sixty six stories, all written in that period. There is no magic to it, I just seem to get one idea after the other, and tend to type them out straight away.

I would be the first to say however, that not all my stories are good. But there are some that are due to be posted that I'm sure you will like. The Mirror series for one, plus the Time Loop 1to3.

I think its because I am not a perfectionist, that makes me churn them out so quickly. Not that theres anything wrong with that you understand, its just that I believe if a story is good enough, it can survive close scrutiny.

Hi Whispersecret...

I think it was a week ago that I noticed a thread somewhere (in Story Feedback) with the name "Latina" in the thread title. I was going to reply, but thought, "Nah...no one would think that THAT 'Latina' was me."

I guess I was wrong.

I wish that I could take credit (especially since you stated that the stories by Latina weren't garbage...lol), but unfortunately I have yet to submit a story to this site. I am toying with the idea, but most of my stories were written FOR the person in each story, so alot of the content contains "inside info and jokes" that all other readers just wouldn't get. I would have to do alot of re-vamping. But I just might...who knows.

Anyway...I just wanted to make it clear to everyone that "Latina" and "Lovely Latina" are two completely different Latinas. (Although I'm sure that she may be just as Lovely.)

Thanx,

Oh, I have no problem with ideas. I have a ton of them. My problem, I guess, is that I AM a perfectionist. <chuckles> AND I can't seem to write a story that's less than 40,000 words.

Okay. <hitches up her boot straps> That's it. I'm writing something SHORT next time. No complicated plot. No deep characters. A simple quick encounter. Yeah. <walks off mumbling, "I can do it, I can do it...">

So, Latina is not Lovely Latina. I can accept that. What is Latina's secret then?

sweet whispersecret... your stories are perfect. Don't change. The wait just heightens the anticipation.....
Fiona and Rockwell.... oh my... what a twist you have taken there.

Darling Merelan, have I told you how much I appreciate you? My ego is duly puffed up now. However, after I finish "The Artifact" I'm still determined to write something short. If for no other reason than to see if I can really do it. It's harder to write short and concise. (At least for me.)

Nothing wrong with being perfectionistic. To some exstent I am too. And I do tend to get myself mingled up in characteristics, scenarios and the such........Hmmm, who am I kidding. Take Sex Wars, I had to recreate the whole world LOL.

Anyway, I have some real trouble keeping stories "short". I simply can't. And it can't be helped. I'm sure that there is a lot out there who goes WTF when they read some of them.

That's also the reason why I can't turn in 50 stories in, in a short period of time. I'd sometimes wish that I could though.

And I know I sometimes get so excited, that I send in a story before it is completely proff read. I'm sorry about that. I'll try to tighten my bolts, with this next one.

Anyway, I don't think there is such a big secret behind it. It's just the different ways we all choose to work.

I myself prefer more involved stories. I think quite a few of us here do. There have been several comments made in fact against the stories that have several episodes of one page each.
Keep writing the way you know best. Both of you.

I agree with most of what's being said here, especially with Merelan, who I think has a valid point. We should all keep writing the way we feel happy with, and just maybe we can add a little entertainment to some peoples lives. lots of hugs
from Carl.

Great question, with good answers.

What is your rate? And why is it so fast or so slow?

Last year, I barely posted. But I did spend a lot of time on the AH, and I did spend a lot of time trying to keep my many personalities straight. And I did do NaNo and work on about 3 chapters of my romance novel. However, I wasn't very polific.
