Whats your plan when gas costs 8 bucks a gallon and virtually everything you buy costs about 4 times more?

That would be excellent news. Only when gas is so expensive that the pain becomes intolerable will be finally start using the *already available* alternatives (nuclear, electric, natural gas, etc.). Even at $4/gallon, the switch is more painful than the price, so there is no huge incentive to switch, as a society.
Let's hope the intolerable pain comes soon, and then we can retool our infrastructure and tell those bastard ragheads to go shove their few remaining drops up their sphincters......Carney

I see a train wreck soon. This state pared its budget back anticipating decreased sales, and now they have to cut more because the sales tax will be another 500 Million less than expected.
Sales tax is sales tax, whether you buy gas or Britney Spears CDs. So this tells me energy costs are inflating the hell out of non-taxable stuff like food, which is what is happening. People stopped buying taxable stuff to buy expensive essentials.

I made a cistern to collect rain water. City water is too rich for my Scottish blood.
I planted a veggie garden. The prices for veggies are going to the Moon. Tomato seeds cost me 25 cents, and the germination kit for 72 plants cost me $3.50, the price of two fat tomatoes. I can sell all I grow for $1 a pound.
