Funny that:
I was not sure at all that I wanted to take part in Confirmation, but decided to go to the course to learn more, take part in discussions and skip the ceremony if I so chose. My naive self was skillfully ambushed by my mother (for the last time!) so I did end up doing the ceremony.
I did however skip the part about the holy church when reciting the creed, because I had a lot of opinions about things done in the name of the church and thinking of fallible and most certainly imperfect human beings heading the church.

These days, I think I’m more prone to understanding your beef with deity.
