What's your interest level?

I just wanted to ask everybody, do you think that the threads in this forum are starting to dwindle? It seems like all of the threads that I'm involved with right now are slowing down or stopped entirely.

So how high would you rate your level of interest in RPGs on Lit?

Am I the only one who devotes at least a part of every day to Lit? And does this say something about my life, or lack thereof?

I was noticing the same thing earlier on in the week and tried to get a thread going in the general forum to get feedback, but it died just as soon as it was born.

I think maybe people are starting to realize there is actual stuff going on outside the house/office! lol It might be also the thread ideas are staring to all sound the same... maybe if we began some new plot lines, the people would return.

Seriously, I think you're right, Lady V. Any ideas for some new threads? Maybe if we post the ideas in here we can guage people's reaction to them, and find out if theres a demand for the thread before we go to all the trouble of creating it.

Well im working on a SRP thread for some buddies and myself...

What I have in mind is to introduce some reality stories... like they do on tv. Instead of the past or future, we focus on the present.

Do a thread about Afganistan... maybe someone will play Bin Laden and there can be soldiers...

another idea is maybe some cartoon stories, like bugs bunny type... have some really weird shit happen (bulding eyes, drooling toungue when a pretty girl walks by).

How about playing an all animal thread, animals in the zoo trying to escape, a chance for freedom, or animals in the jungle trying to get revenge on the hunter....

ive got more if interested, just let me know.

I think a lot of threads fail because its the same thing over and over. and its hard to do a thread about a movie or tv show, especially when all you can do is follow the plot of the movie/tv show.

Well, the cartoon idea looks really interesting, and so does the idea about the animals in the jungle trying to get revenge on the hunter...

the Bin Laden thing I'll stay away from entirely, there's enough media coverage of that guy already...

As for movies and t.v. shows, the only thing they're really good for is upping your post count. They're nice and easy to reply to, because you already know your response is preordained, so it's easy to reply fast and get a large number of posts under your belt.

I'm personally using Lit for other purposes. I recently graduated from college and I'm trying to get started as a screenwriter. Since I'm still looking for a job, I have a lot of free time on my hands and it's good to write something else besides my scripts. I don't really know why we are losing people in general, I figured maybe it's cause it's the holidays but I'm starting to think that it's because people are just getting back to school now.

Yup, its all about the posts, you found me out. LOL Actually, I gave up on upping my posts after I got my avater too. Helps when there's a thread for posting pics from your computer for other people to use for avatars. That's what put me over a hundred. I don't even want to count the number of posts I put on that thread...
Btw, love the new avatar, nice legs. Nothing personal, but I think I like the old one better... I just love the image of a beautiful face, framed by lovely hair, and showing one hidden ear...

Thnx blaze I enjoy your work as well. Another idea on why numbers are dwindling recently hit me, the majority of the available threads usually have medevil or fantasy aspects. Though I too enjoy these threads, I think we need more variety like sci-fi or action threads. I just started a new thread today which is a bit more modern and plan to start another one within the next few days, maybe this will make somewhat of a difference.

You've got a point, PmTick, not too many people are interested in the whole sci-fi thing, myself included. I much prefer the fantasy aspect, actually. An exception being one of your threads, Know Your Enemy, which I find quite interesting due to its post-apocalyptic nature. Keep the good ideas flowing, though, sooner or later every idea finds a receptive audience. You just have to find the right timing for it.

As for the servers, I didn't know they'd been down out there, and I didn't know they even HAD Bell down that way, so you know a lot more than I do about it.

It is a bit scarry at first and so far have only joined threads that you can just join, casting worries me (rejection phobia).

Hey, there's nothing wrong with your writing, its a big step above that of some people in Lit and nobody critisizes them for it. Also, don't worry about pissing people off. I'm not saying you should deliberately antagonize them, or just throw caution and restraint to the wind, but part of the point of this forum is to allow people access to a medium which allows freedom of speech.
I agree, it can be scary at first to just up and join a thread, but you shouldn't fear the casting calls. I have yet to join a casting call where I wasn't accepted. I think they're mainly for filtering out people who arn't really interested in the thread, not for judging you on your ideas and writing ability.
And if you're more comfortable with joining a new thread, you can either wait until a new one starts that you're interested in, or you can start one yourself. Or you can just keep replying to various threads like this until you feel comfortable with them.
Just remember, the whole point is to have fun, so go for it!

In response to delite, don't worry about pissing people off. Admittingly I have run into some people who are more by the book than others but that is a small minority. If you do overstep your boundries a bit most people are cordial enough to simply pm you explain what's wrong and ask you kindly to edit your post. Even so that's only happen to me once.
The only way you really learn is by doing though, so I reccomend signing up for a thread and posting away like crazy and like blaze said have fun.

Whoa there Lady Vi, let's not jump to extremes right away - first we should consider other more plausible explanations: such as an increase in the number of alien abductions, or a serial killer targeting online RPGers. I mean, it's just common sense to eliminate the more likely causes before taking a radical step like positing the existence of a so-called ‘real life.' Oh, and geez it's hard to keep track of you're av - could you change it a little more frequently?? (chuckle)

And speaking of av's BlazeofLife, now why'd you have to go and change yours? It was one of my absolute favorites (pout). Sure the new one's all mysterious and mystical and stuff, but the old one was so sexy.

I am enjoying it and have the feeling you might be seeing quite alot of me, unfortunately I work 48 hour shifts which mean that I disappear 2 out of every 6 days got any Ideas how I can write my self out for 2 days and then come back in?

if u have an idea of where you want to go, you can inform someone else and they can write your character for you while you are away. it can be kept minimal, or more big. I'm in some threads with you and I wouldnt mind writing for your character. just let me know what you want done

Yeah, PmTick's right, average response time around here is about every two days, so its no big deal if you disappear for a bit. We only start to wonder where you went if your absence stretches out more than a few days.
Also, like Lady Violet said, you can just plot out what you want your character to do over the next little while and ask someone else to post for you. (Although I realise this doesn't always work, since thes threads rely so much on other people's input and hence change direction at a whim)

And to address the subject of avatars:

Change yours however many times you want, Lady V, this one's your best to date and they just keep getting better.
