What's your inspiration?

Seriously, I generally don't have trouble with my muse. I have a list of "what if" questions to fall back on.

"What if a lesbian fell in love with her brother's best friend Jason."

"What if my boss got soooooo drunk she woke up in bed with her roomie."

Everytime I come up with a what if question, I jot it down. It's not a muse, but it's a good start. Sometimes nothing but crap comes of it, sometimes good stories come of it.

My trouble is boredom. Halfway through a tale I get bored with it and have to move on, so I have several stories that are in progress. Makes things move slowly around here.

Font of inspiration

It sounds like a shameless plug, but I'll read through the Story Ideas forum of the Literotica bulletin board. Most of the actual ideas posted don't interest me, but sometimes I'll get an idea from the posted idea, or I'll combine a couple of posted ideas for a story.

My problem with most of the posted ideas is that the idea has to be "realistic" before I'll sit down and try to write a story around it. "Realistic" meaning that the situation has to be plausible and have a fair to good chance of occuring in real life.

Ask your friends what their favourite sexual fantasy is, then (if they have the guts to tell you)write a story about it. My story "Backyard Amusement"
was based on an actual event (although the names were changed to protect the innocent -- or guilty, as the case may be)

I seem to be gifted with the 'more ideas than stories' problem. Like KillerMuffin, I have oodles of ideas of stories written down, some actually half written stories, others mere lines to springboard off of.

My biggest problem is getting the motivation to finish the stories. I dunno what it is. I'm not really sure why I don't seem to have the motivation to finish most of them. One of these days I'm just going to get a surge of enegry and I'm going to finish all the half-done stories I have lurking about in files.

Inspiration

For the most part I get inspiration from creative spurts that seem to occur only once every year or so. It's not a bad thing, I mean I have time for my studies and work for the other 11 months of the year, right? Lol... who am I kidding? I usually get my inspiration from deep emotional distress. I suppose it's some sort of funky defense method for hiding from the truth of it all. Music can REALLY affect me... I suggest Delirium's newest album, which is raw sexual prowess in harmonic form. If anyone get's a chance, check it out (maybe you can hunt for it on the web), I think the album title is "Karma."

Like KillerMuffin and SpecialK I also do the jotting down thing e.g. I open a Word-file and just type down the heading, the rest of the story can follow a lot later.
