Hi there,

I’m a mainstream/spec fiction writer but I’ve lately been writing some erotic fiction, for fun. Recently, I made my first submission to Lit. (I have another story coming out in November in UnMasked Online). The story, Vice Cream, is actually seven short stories based around a common theme. I chose BDSM as the category, for a few reasons, but not all of the stories are BDSM.

So far, I’ve received very positive feedback but I think most of the readers are probably BDSM oriented. I’d like to hear from some other readers, particularly about the non-BDSM stories. Also, if you aren’t into BDSM, I’d be curious to know if you still enjoyed the stories with that theme.

Here's the link: http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=413852

Thanks in advance,
Keroin

Hi Keroin,

Your story was an instant favorite. Truly a "love."

While I read BDSM, I'm much more vanilla than most. I dabble. So I guess I'm a middle-of-the-road reader.

Favorite flavor: coconut, followed closely by Vanilla.

Fabulous writing.

Hi again. Roommates walked in, so post was short. To elaborate...

I loved Coconut because it was at once fantastical (I would never do that) and realistic (I can identify with both characters on an unhealthy level). I thoroughly enjoyed it: the mystery, the simple passion, the imagery. The finest of all of your stories.

I popped over to your story's discussion on the other thread and noticed a lot of people were hating on Vanilla. I loved Vanilla. I thought it was a great way to start the story. I'm not a typical BDSM person; I'm into very light bondage/role play. I cringe at the thought of anything sugary "up in there," so to speak. But I loved this story! I thought this was the most erotic. The danger and the pain were described so vividly, and the fact the narrator was so turned on...electric. I like you started it with a bang and immediately moved to a simpler, though arousing, tale. I liked the role of Master in this one; I thought he made for a realistic Dom. And I adored the last line and how you integrated it into another story...

So well done on this one, Keroin.

Like Ellabee, I'm not much for BDSM, but I can definitely recognize the quality and skill in your writing even if the subject matter didn't do much for me erotically.

As for my favorite flavor? Mango! I could totally relate to the narrator in that one. I felt myself pulled, along with her, to the other couple. And I wanted to be. :)

Thanks so much! It's interesting that Vanilla was so disliked in the discussion forum and yet, among the folks in the BDSM forum, it is the clear favorite. Glad you enjoyed.

I know some people feel that erotic stories should be as realistic as possible and that's fine, I enjoy those stories, too, but I love the fantasy element of erotic fiction. Much of what I write contains actions most people would never even contemplate - that's kind of the point. (Vanilla should probably have a "Kids, do not try this at home" warning label, LOL).

Thanks again for reading and good to see you over on the discussion board!

Merci! I love the challenge of trying to write stories that still have merit even if the kink described is not shared by the reader.

Many thanks for taking the time to read and comment!

Well, this is interesting. I put up a new story in the non-erotic category and have received a large number of votes very quickly. What I find curious is that the number of views is significantly less than my erotic story but a much larger percentage of people are voting.

I would have assumed it would have been the other way around. Any thoughts?

(BTW, votes, though appreciated, don't really concern me, just an interesting bit of trivia).

Maybe it's because most people who read non-erotic stories on an erotic story website are more committed to reading the entirety of the story, whereas the readers of erotic stories read a few paragraphs and move on if it doesn't light his or her personal fire?

Just a thought. I have no idea.

I think that's quite a good assumption, actually.

Hm, I never considered that. Actually, I kind of wondered if anyone would read a non-erotic story on an erotic fiction website. LOL.

Sounds like a good theory to me. Ellabee is sharp :)

Good stuff

Loved your posted endeavours.

As for non-erotic on an erotic site I think people will enjoy good writing wherever it is, provided they are looking for more than masturbatory frenzy.

And as others have commented, your endeavours do stand out in a class of their own.

Thank you so much, M, for the lovely compliment. Thanks also for reading.

The irony of this made me laugh.

I received anonymous feedback, via email, today about my non-erotic story. I won't quote the author, as per Lit rules, but it was basically a question, directed at other readers. The reader insinuated the story was confusing. Unfortunately, he/she sent the comment to me instead of posting it publicly. I guess the instructions for public comments must be confusing, too. LOL.

Sorry, I know I sound mean but it was kind of funny.
