When I was younger, so much younger than today, there was an ad for the Canadian Association of the Mentally Retarded featuring a retarded boy named Timmy.

So, calling someone a "Tim" operates on many levels and involves no cursing.

Best of all, the recipient usually doesn't have a clue why you find it funny to be calling him "Tim".
