I'm very happy with my rescued kitty. But purebreds are cool since you can almost know in advance what kind of personality they will have. If I ever buy another cat, I think I'll get a Turkish Angora. Catterys will sell young adults who aren't good breeders pretty cheap.

I also like the sphynx even if they look like rats. But they run around a thousand dollars.

Maine Coon. It's an American long hair which, I think is considered in some quarters to be a separate breed. It is the most beautiful and affectionate cat I've ever been owned by. :)

I don't breed with cats, sorry. It's not a prejudice but a preference. I have lived with a dog at one time. I believe he was a Heinz 57, certainly not a thoroughbred. He was amazing being able to walk on two legs instead of four and fooling people into believing he was a human male. He fooled me for a time too. As the old saying goes, "You can fool some of the people..blah blah blah".

I was going to look at the Maine Coons but I fell in love with exotic shorthairs.

How many Cats do you have catLady?

The Ragdoll. They're affectionate and sweet-tempered. Very good with children. I've always wanted one but I always feel so bad for those stray, homeless kittens in the shelters that I end up taking one of those in. :)

I'd have to agree with PHANTOM5875, I love Maine Coons. We actually have a rescued Coon Cat. Lumox, the MCC, is beautiful, and very sweet. The interesting thing about the MCC is that they don't have very large voices. Lumox is around 32 lbs, and looks even larger due to the massive amounts of fur, but his voice sounds like a squeaky hinge. I also love Siamese. Mainly, though, I love any sort of cat, and all of our animals are rescue cases.

Mainecoon. They are one person cats, great hunters, and very independent. oh and gorgeous.

It makes no difference to me - I'm just a pushover for animals. When we were little, my sisters, brother, and I were always bringing strays home.

Any kind of kitty will do just fine. I'm particularly fond of the cat I have right now. She is just a regular variety - whatever kind that is.

Abyssinian is the only kind of cat I've ever had. I did the research before I got my first one. The deciding factor was the description of the Aby as being the one cat breed that seems to think it is a dog. Mine play fetch, just as a dog would, for example.

I've had a blue Aby, and now I have a ruddy and a fawn (named Cheyenne, amazingly ;)) My next will likely be another Blue.

Kranker, I was actually surprised that nobody beat me to it. ;)

p.s. No need to be nervous around me. I'm a pussycat. Um, well, except when I'm sex-deprived and pmsing, like now.

edited because I really do know the difference between two, to and too, so their, ah, there, um, they're...;)

Deprived AND pms-ing!!??!?
G-Fkng-Damn!!
It cant get any better than that!!!
oh god.......

I'm still partial to Persians, even though they have smooshed-looking faces, and I'm horribly allergic to longhairs.

I also like Seilpoint (sp?) Siamese. But their cry sounds like a baby, and it drives me batso.

Not in the least- I give as good as I get. I figure,if everybody doesn't hurt and ache the next day, then nobody is doing it right!!

I agree, I have had several Ragdoll's and they are very affectionate. I love cats, but do not have one now, my son & grandson are allergic.

I gotta start wearing my glasses...

I swear to god when I first saw this message listed I thought it said

What's your favorite cat bread?

Oh damn I thought, WriterDom is starting some shit.

I love mixed breeds. I got 4 of them. Between them I got a little bit of everything. The new Tom, Pete, has a lot of Maine Coon in him. Cutest tail in the world. And he knows it.

I have 4 Persians; I just love the long luxurious fur, their calm temper, and their dignified behaviour.

I’m a cat person no doubt about that, all cats are wonderful, but I have to admit that Siamese gives me the creeps.
