Hi I have been writing on the site for a few months and was thinking, looking at my stories page, that it's funny how my expectations never match the readers. Several times I have posted stories and thought; "Yeah their going to love this" then okay but dissapointing. Other times it's been "I'm going to get killed" and guess what? great votes and a lot of e-mails. So I thought it would be fun if people shared what they felt was their best or most enjoyable story in their opinion and tell us why. Maybe you had more fun with it, maybe you feel you wrote it more for you than others, whatever the reason lets hear it. Include the link if you want. I will start off;
This link is to Siblings with benefits Samhain. A Halloween one shot based on my incest series, it can be read as a stand alone. It's my favorite because I go for more story than sex in general but I wrote this as a demonstration that I can smut with the best of them there are close to ten seperate sexual encounters in it and the ending scene is my first attempt at group sex. wrote it in only two days as it was one of those things that almost wrote itself and had an absolute blast with it. Here it is

http://www.literotica.com/stories/showstory.php?id=502455

Now I showed you mine. please show me yours.;)

I think my best story is "The Crew: Poison," the first of my series about The Crew written, though published second by Lit.
I like it because I think it is one of my best-realized stories, introducing characters that I don't think you see much of in porn: a gang of punk bitches out to grind the world under their high heels. It also has what I think is a neat twist ending. I think "Poison" is what led one commentator to say that my stories were "surprising, and that's saying a lot for Lit."
"Poison" also is a story that turns a lot of people off to my stories, I think.
You can find the link to my stories in my sig line.:heart::heart::heart::heart:

I'll definitely check it out! My next project after my incest series is done is going to be a bout a secret group of rich dominates 12 members six of each sex that get together once a month and swap stories. Sure its been done before but I think i have some cool twists to it as there is a shitload of rules and guidelines. If you see this post and care to take a look, I sort of debut it a little in The Breaking of Allison pts 1&2 which feature a woman being initiated by a current member to gain entry.

Best story? Is that in my opinion, the readers opinion, or the one I liked writing the best?

The highest scoring story is I won the Lottery. I'm assuming the ones that read it, liked it.

The one with the most votes and views is Bound. The score is also up there but not anywhere near the one above.

It's a toss up as to which one I think is best. With over 200 stories it's kind of hard to decide. Some have a lot more meaning than others. If I had to pick just one it would be, Wet. It was outside my comfort zone in a way and the first one I had to reach on. Thanks to a good editor it came out well.

The most fun to write was my first novel which has never been posted. Maybe I need to do that some day. It needs a lot of editing. Short choppy sentences for one thing. A lot of things wrong, I've since learned to do better.

Yeah, short, choppy sentences never work for anyone. Check out the crap that Hemingway guy wrote.:)

I'm not really sure which one I considered the best. I enjoyed writing Drug of Choice and The Predator the most, because of the research that went into it, but Silent Night, Horny Night was a favorite for many people in the winter contest.

Hmm... pretty much an impossible question. If someone put a gun to my head, I suppose that I'd have to say To Catch a Merchant Princess

It's not my highest rated, most voted, most viewed, or most anything story, but it does hit on the high end of the scale.

:D I was thinking the same thing the last time I tried to edit it. Not that i would ever compare myself to Hemingway. I don't drink nearly enough.

Tough choice...

Most of my stories I loved writing or I wouldn't have written them. As said by someone else...if you put a gun to my head it would be a toss up between...I don't know, three.

The Walker Brigade was completely fun to write and well received by the readers of Sci-Fi.

The Du Page Affair while not my best work did garner a green 'E' while being fun to write.

Shelly and George I consider one of my best works. I enjoyed writing it and it appeared that everyone except anonymous enjoyed reading that story. It's in the LW cat, so while it had a lot of views and votes...well you know about trolls...but it does have a red 'H'. :D

I have many more I enjoyed writing.

...

The one I like the most, not while I wrote it, but in retrospect, is: Flawed Red Silk Ch.10 - Not A Woman

I wrote it for a friend who had overcome problems adjusting to the after effects of a hysterectomy. She liked it, but she wouldn't have done at the time.

My local friends like The Worst Chain Story Ever, Ch.01 because they recognise my humour.

I'm not sure whether I should post a target for trolls, but my Brigit First ; Second ; Third series has consistently been the highest rated of my stories. I would like to revisit them and add in some more conflict between the characters, because I think they have resolutions that are too predictable.

It's funny how friends influence what we write. I wrote A Cold and Rainy Day for an old girlfriend. She showed the story to one of her girl friends. Next thing I know the friend wants a story. So I wrote, Out of the Night.

Both still visit my home but neither one will sit on the chaise lounge in the living room. :D

My personal opinion of my best story? Playlists: Fearless
Why? Because it was the one that came from nowhere, full-blown, and literally is posted here as it came out of my head.

It's a rough draft- and it still manages to break my heart a little every time I read it.

My personal best? Lost and Redeemed. I still cry every time I read it so you can imagine how hard it was to write.

But for some unknown reason the series Rented Out gets a huge number of reads and votes and scores high. Damned if I know why.

My best scoring story is "Spreading Seeds Chapt 10, I think because Josh does three women.

My favorite stories are "My new Best Friend", and "Flash" they didn't score as high and aren't 'erotic"much but I like them.

My readers and I seem to be in agreement - I think my best work here is The Lengths One Will Go To... and coincidentally, it is my only story that consistantly hovers between 4.75 and 4.76, though others have climbed that high for a little while.

I don't know what my readers see in it, but I like it mainly because of Rebecka. She's got an amazing body, she's clever, fun, sexy, seductive, passionate, brave and quite mysterious - qualities that make it very hard for one to not be smitten with her. Without giving too much away, I'm also quite pleased with how I handled the morning after they made love.

Strange thing is, I only ever got a couple pieces of feedback on it. I often wonder about how readers like the ending. It doesn't really have much impact on me because I knew where the story was going when I wrote it. But I guess they must like it, otherwise it wouldn't have a 4.76 rating.

It's difficult to pick a 'best' story of mine, as I look back on them all rather fondly. I was in varying frames of mind when I wrote them and after reading some again, I'm struck how my style has evolved over the years which is a good thing.

Anyway...

My highest scoring story is 'Coming Clean Ch. 03: Tiffany's Ride' in the Lesbian Sex cat. The whole 'Coming Clean' series did well in fact.

My story with the most reads is my Incest story 'A Gift From the Heart'.

I guess my personal favorite is a Lesbian Sex story 'Kelly's Moonlight Serenade'. I've always enjoyed that tune and it was the inspiration for the story.

There's a link to my stories in my sig if you're interested. ;)

You did get that I was being ironic, right?;)

It's not my highest-rated but it comes close. It's the story I spent the most time on, and it has more plot than the rest put-together to date, I think. I really like the characters, and I keep trying to do more with them, and I think I've finally got something they deserve. It did well in votes and comments, but didn't win its contest. I'm still proud of it, though, and I always recommend it when people want to read my work.

While James Joyce’s Ulysses is one of my all-time favourite books, I don’t generally favour long novels, long plays, long films, or long short stories. Obviously there are exceptions. But, as rule, I prefer a small, rich ideas done well rather than the ‘just keep rolling, it’s all grist to some mill somewhere’ model.

I also like a beginning and an end. And a ‘twist’ is not all bad in my book. Or in my stories. Interestingly enough, O Henry, Chekov and Maupassant were not averse to a bit of the ‘unexpected but not unreasonable’ ending. Not that I am inviting a comparison.

And so, perhaps not surprisingly, I think my best stories are the ones that are short and simple. Not that the ‘scorers’ necessarily agree.

The Tuesday Club (http://www.literotica.com/s/the-tuesday-club-1) is something of a classic short story – and it rates a Red H – but it has only had about 7k hits.

Jasmine Tea (http://www.literotica.com/s/jasmine-tea-1) has even fewer hits – but it also gets a Red H, and it has had reasonably good (PM) mail, all positive.

Speaking of Louise isn’t even a story, really. It’s just a bit of dialogue. But it has had a reasonable number of hits (circa 25k), a reasonable number of votes, a Red H, and plenty of positive PMs.

But I guess my current favourite is Artist’s Model – 11k hits, no comments to speak of, a Red, and very positive PMs.

So … what do I know about what works and what doesn’t?

I think my best story is "The Crew: Poison," and you can get to it by following the link below to my stories.
Why is it the best? I like the way I delineated the characters and threw in a surprise ending. Just jelled very well for me.

Ha ha! Didn't realize I'd already answered this question on this thread!
Doh!

I always like my newest story best. Right now, it's http://www.literotica.com/s/wanting-impresario.

I am disheartened to the extent that I prefer to submit stories to other venues. I have noticed that the more I like the characters and the more literary I try to be, the lower the reader score. I am trying to evolve and mature as a fiction author. I have attempted writing character studies and non-cliched archetypes. I have mimicked the style of Literotica stories that I enjoyed. Each time I think I have improved (better dialog, more dimensional characters, surprises and twists, different styles), the reader scores decline. My highest rated story is the first or second one I ever posted. I once watched a story that was rated 4.55 with 15 or so votes drop to 2.98 in one day. I assume there were lots of 1 votes. Some people must have hated the story.

As an experiment, I submitted a story in the Incest category using a different name. It is still rated above 4.5. The category is the easiest and the reader expectations are the lowest. If you write, "sister blows brother while mother watches," it will be rated hot no matter what. I don't like the category personally, so I just change "girl next door" to "sister" and "land lady" to "mother" to whore for votes.

I agree one hundred percent. This is a "stroke site" first and foremost. As for incest I write in that category and it is an easy to please audience, however I run into the same problem I am writing a long running series 27 and counting but it features only the brother sister (for incest they have other lovers as well) and get maybe 50 votes and 6,000 views this high in. I keep getting suggestions to throw the rest of the family in there. I pride myself that I have depth of character and although incest is a loathsome topic in real life many of my core audience feels for the characters and understands why they are together. Authors who have only been writing a couple of months come out with "sis looked hot she bent over I gave it to her and dad and mom joined in" get 500 votes and 100,000 views in no time. Write to please yourself first and foremost.
