Could be my high school year book pic. When I started we had one black guy, one Asian girl and a dozen natives out of a thousand kids. Had three black guys, one Asian girl, two ME and about a dozen natives when I graduated. ME kids were children of a science teacher. Don't know if Portuguese is a visible minority. They are in Strathroy.

Considering that elections are won and lost by 5% points it's amazing that 14% of population is not represented. Amazed GoP even has a chance most times.
 
Knew people that had a farm near Strathroy in the 60s. Grew acres and acres of corn for Green Giant.

I remember going there, but not much else about it.

At my first school many many decades ago we still celebrated Empire Day even though it should have been called Commonwealth Day.

The young pupils dressed up to represent all the peoples in the "Empire" but we were all White British. I can't show the photo of that event. I was wearing black face (not my choice but designated by the teaching staff) and pretending to be from Jamaica.

At that school now it might be necessary to ask some poor kid to do white face and there are enough genuine Jamaicans to form a reggae band, a steel band, a Ska band... They have just celebrated Diwali and tomorrow they do Guy Fawkes. Who the f**k is Guy Fawkes?

My first thought was that this was a racist thread, given that the guy on the ladder seemed to have darker skin than those who were posing. (Odd that I thought that.)
But it was just a matter of camera angles and shadows.

But I think it's the lady in red (the one in the center, right in front of the guy on the ladder).
Where's the rest of (as in upper) body?

That's all Strathroy has. That and turkeys. Turkey Festival is biggest shindig for 30 miles. Used to be lots of tobacco too. You got paid $100 a day back in the 70s picking tobacco. School curriculum was delayed until all the kids got back from harvest.

Real farm belt country. Except for a couple middling cities SW Ontario is all farmland.
