What's with the hair cutting?

I've read it in countless stories... subs that shave their heads or cut a good amount of their hair to please their Dominant. Does this really happen as often as BDSM literature makes it seem? Because I find it a little hard to believe. I know if T told me to cut even 2 inches off of my hair I'd safe-word. So do tell, have any of you ever ordered a sub to cut his/her hair off or have any of you cut your hair for a Dom/me?

I don't know if I'd safe word, but I do know that K would never tell me to. He likes long hair. And he flips if I get it shorter than even my shoulders. And frankly, I don't think their are that many dom's out there who want bald subs. I can see some (like roscoe) telling them to cut it to a page boy, but bald? I just don't think it's that common. And as for the guys who like to pull hair, I'm gonna bet they'd be more likely to order her to grow it out.

I can only speak from my own experience and position as a slave, but I think you have answered your question yourself. In saying you would safeword you have demonstrated one of the reasons some Dominants find the idea attractive.....it is an area which ordinarily is going to cause the submissive a good deal of anguish, challenge them to (especially females) to obey, and for some be humiliating to endure and explain to others. That sort of temptation can override the pleasure a Dominant may have in enjoying long hair on their sub....after all, it will grow back afterwards but in the meantime their is mileage to be had out of the exercise of having the sub cut or shave their hair in a manner which is not usual for them, or doing it to them.

It can also be used as a form of punishment, a way to emphasise the status of the submissive as lower, and to eliminate pride that may be preventing the submissive from being the best they could be. Many women, not just submissives, take pride in their hair....that has been shown here in Tainted B's thread in Cafe....so it is an effective way to push those buttons and highlight their purpose. The idea has been mentioned in this household on occasion, I suspect because he knows it would be a challenge for me and raise many of the issues I mentioned, and because he likes to do things which I do not feel comfortable with.

Long hair takes time to grow....I know it is a vain thing, but will he look at you and not like what he sees. Spme women just don't look as good with short hair as with long.

I don't think the emotions of the moment would disappear that quick for most, if ever. The sight of shaved sub would serve to remind both of the occasion for its relevance and effectiveness, not to mention the power and control. As you say, it is something which requires serious thought over whilsical so is unlikely to be a momentary thing regretted later. Similarly I don't think many Dominants worth anything would be that into whether it was a good look or not....the purpose and meaning transcends physical appearances....and beauty is not always so subjective in its interpretation, it can be beautiful because it symbolises so much that is honoured.

True enough. But even that kind of unfairness has a logic to it. But I guess this kind of thing just seperates the dom/mes from the wannabes.

I control when and if My slaves and subs cut their hair...If I had a valid reason for insisiting on a bald head on male or female I would not hesitate to give the order to obey.

5 years ago My male slave had hair almost to his shoulders...he loved it that way...I did not and insisted he grow it to his ass...he is allowed a maximum of 1 " removal every three or four months..if I decide it is needed...he now has hair half way down his back.

Hair that is longer than one would prefer can be just as difficult to endure as having to cut ones hair or shave ones head. No I don't control the color of their hair but will give My opinion if they ask for it. I really like one color as much as another though if I were choosing color they would probably all end up with jet black hair!
