Whether it's Sam Adams, or Miller Lite, or Dogfish Head 120-minute IPA, they have their one beer, and that's all they drink.

The lack of variety would just drive me insane. Maybe that's just me.

Phew! For a minute I thought you meant "one beer at a time" or "one beer per night". You had me worried there. Only one flavor of beer is the nuts!

Prefer wine and scotch to beer

Actually, I don't much care for beer. If I have two beers a year, that's a lot.

I prefer French wine or single malt scotch.

Beer gives me gas and makes me pee (lol). Does that happen to anyone else? (lol)

Single malt gives me wicked heartburn. Any way around that?

I was thinking the same thing. I was going to point out that my brother in law gets totally blitzed on one beer.

I've always hated beer (and wine). I will drink a couple of the least offensive ones (usually Corona or MGD) and that's pretty much it. Just never had a taste for it (but don't mind the very slight buzz I get off of 2 or at most 3).

I'm a person who only drinks 1 beer a night at most. Any more and I get GROUCHY.

Why drink only one beer when there are so many?

That answer fits both lack of variety and the amount consumed. :D

Beer is just a beverage to me. I dont drink multiple glasses of water or Coke.

i thought the same! *phew*

i gotta stick to beer, spirits turn me into an axe wielding maniac

i tend to go in phases too. i'll be on the guinness for a time and then shift to another flavour completely. i find trying out the local brews wherever i find myself in the world can lead to surprises - some unpleasant!

Tusker, in Kenya, has to be icy cold, any approach to tepid is vile. Singha, in Thailand, causes me to lose control of my bodily functions... Oh, and Bud had the same effect once too.

man, i gotta give up drink!

Before I became a reformed lush, my favorite kind of beer was OP (aka "Other People's" or "Free Beer.") :p

If I was buying, I did have a distinct preference for a single kind -- a single brewery, type and container but I'd drink whatever was available that was closest to my preferences.

There's really nothing odd or strange about people having a strict brand preference -- a lot of people will only drink Coca Cola, Pepsi or RV Cola and drink water or anther type of soft drink if their preferred cola isn't available.

Sometimes I splurge and get get the fancy expensive stuff. Sometimes all the money I have is the change in my ashtray so I get what I can afford. Most of the time I settle on something in the middle.
Given the choice of alternating and having the fancy expensive stuff on tap 100% of the time then Ill take the variety.

Hmmmm well here we kinda run things a bit interestingly...

Theres the "house beer", Yuengling, which we try to always keep in stock, "party beer" Bud Light because its cheap and just about everyone will drink it, but then we'll mix it up a bit, like roomie likes his Guiness, or sometimes we'll mix things up with Killians or Bass Ale.

I drink Pear Cider - Brothers or Bulmers - and I really enjoy the taste of those. The fiance adores Guinness (and is now allowed to drink again - YAY!) so those are the things we keep in stock, along with some Vodka and Amaretto, occasionally some sparkling white wine.

It's rare that I have more than one beer per night, but I like to mix it up. If there's a beer on the list I haven't tried I'll go for that over an old favorite.

Thats been an advantage of being in the military...the package store aka liquor store, at least the larger ones, try to carry a good variety of different beers to satisfy peoples cravings for thier local brew.
