I don't know, but it's really fucking annoying. It's bad enough when a post that only says "First Post!" derails the train of discussion about the thread, but then other people chime in saying nothing more than "dammit, you got the first post" and don't add anything of any significance to the topic at hand.

It's even worse when it happens on a thread that merits serious discussion, like on the sexual abuse thread. I'm sorry, but that really disgusts me. If I were to take the time to craft a thread that bares my soul in such a fashion, I would be really pissed if someone came along and said "First Post!" like it was a bigger deal than what I said.

Plus, it's so unimportant. All getting the first post signifies is that you spend waaayyyyyy too much time refreshing the boards and hoping to bite on a new thread.

And it's happening in almost every fucking thread I've read tonight. Arrgghhhh, it just pisses me off. It doesn't seem disrespectful, but it really is. It's basically hijacking a thread from the very outset.
