Bold works pretty much the same way.

You can also do <center></center> and <blockquote></blockquote>

Special character codes such as — and ♥ also work, automatically changing into the appropriate characters in the preview and final story ( though a very few that work in preview won't work in the final posting, and some look different due to font differences )
