Heh, I know that's a pretty subjective question, but I'm just curious what some of your favorites are. I was trying to browse around today and find a new story to add to, but there are just so many that I wound up feeling a bit overwhelmed.

I came across a few that were so amazing I didn't think I had the writing ability to add to them, and then several that were...eh, not so amazing, sometimes because the plot did not appeal, but usually because I'm a completely unrepentant grammar whore.

(And then there's the problem of not being sure if a story's author is still active and whether it's even worth adding too, though with the active mods this place seems to have maybe that's not as much of a problem as I first thought.)

But anyway, I thought I could use a sort of guide to the better stories out there. What are some that you enjoyed reading, and which ones do you find yourself adding to the most? (Shameless plugging is welcome.)

Also, in the vein of 'help the newb author', would you mind sharing what you think it is that attracts you to these stories?

Hi jtzmm

I guess it all depends on what genre interests you. My favourite is the sci-fi/fantasy section. Though I'll read stories in the other sections and enjoy them, about 90% of threads I've added to other writers stories go this genre. Both of my own stories have been in this section too. Aaralon's discoveries by Sixth, Adventures of Anya by Bison and U.S.S. Ishtar by Gystax are some of my favourites. Prisoner on Tau Ceti Two by Fencer was the most recent to make me pick up a pen and start scribbling.

This is a good thread to read for opinions on what encourages writers to add to a story.

Hope you have a lot of fun here.

I'd agree with android1966, it all depends on what you like, every now and then I use the search tool by typing in specific words and seeing what pops up, give it a try! ( sometimes the results are far from what you would have clicked yourself though  )

Personally, I have a mature woman fetish, which I hadn't really realised till one day I was looking through my stories and thought 'huh, bit of a recurring theme there horny-oz!' :p

P.s I'm flattered I'm in your list, Torg! :)

P.s.s Gosh I love smilies! :D   :nana: :nana: :nana:

Thanks for the replies! I'm currently reading 'Domination in the Office' and woindering how I missed something this good earlier...

:nana: I made the list :nana:

But actually I would not say that it is currently readable.

After a intensive study of grammar and psychology of English grammar, I have decided that it is worth the effort to go through and change from second person to third person, making it very difficult to read, for now, but should be easier to read later. In addition I am going through and correcting many of the errors that slipped by me the first time.

In conclusion, if you have not read it already, please put it on the back burner.

PS I had meant to have it ready by now but the past two years have been one shit hurricane after another.

Well first I wanted to say, welcome to the board!

As far as authors not being active, well if you were to run across an inactive story you're more than welcome to post it on the thread dealing with that issue and if the mods feel that the story has indeed been abandoned, you can request to take it over or at least have it posted so that someone else will take it over.

I'd like to offer a bit of advice, even if you feel daunted by the writing and feel you're not up to snuff, if you have a good idea where you want a SL to go, go for it! Can't hurt to try and you may surprise yourself!

Better stories hmmmm...well honestly I like stories where writers such as jakelyon, daciasdesire, gystex, Torg, inkybus, and switch76, among a few other authors have added to or created the story.

Some advice, hmmmm well I'd have to say the biggest complaint is one or two line posts. Give us some depth, move the storyline a little, some description, but above all have fun with it! After all, fun is what this is all about. If you feel daunted or just have a question in general, always feel free to ask, someone is always around to help. :)

Happy Writing!
