What's happening to votes?

Hi--I noticed that my scores had gone up considerably, and then I realized the number of votes was lower. I've noticed that before, but it's never been as significant a difference (in terms of both score and number of votes) as this time. Does literotica occasionally detect and remove "crank" votes, or multiple votes, or that sort of thing? Some voters actually told me they were out to tank my stories' scores (one or two sent me really vicious, hateful e-mails), and I suspected that they voted multiple times against the same stories. Does anyone know for sure what's going on, when it comes to this sort of thing?

That's exactly what happens cat.

Lit does sweeps every so often for trolls and repeat votes.

I like that Laurel and Manu are looking out for us.

Management checks the votes from time to time and removes certain of the votes. From general comment in this board, the most likely removed votes are "1 bombs" or "5 bombs."

It is supposedly not possible for one user to vote multiple times.

As to the vicious PCs/E-Mails, welcome to Literotica! There are a number of Literotica readers/voters who seem to delight in stomping on someone elses dream.

I hadn't noticed a big sweep.. but since this is about the third string along this line today.. musta been a big sweep.

periodically, they "sweep" the votes... which means finding people who have voted more than once for you and removing that vote...

more dramatically... they tend to find trolls... those who vote 1's when everyone else has better scores... if those are out of line.. they get removed...

hence...votes go down.. scores go up

I think the sweeps overnight were because Laurel is checking all the scores for the impending announcement of the Reader's Choice Nominations for Feb. I heard she'd been running behind, with the Annual comp and all.

One of my (Lou's) poems went from 4.44 to 4.71 with the removal of one single vote. I didn't even realised it had been 1-bombed!

Shocky ;)

I noticed, but on one of my few poems! The average shot up, but the votes went down from 8 to 6, so don't hold your breath for an 'H' to pop up on my poetry (if such it may be termed).

I'll say it was a big sweep! One of my stories dropped SIX votes, and rose from 3.98 to 4.36!

I actually found the e-mails amusing, but I did not like the haters fucking with my scores. Not that I would have won any awards or anything, but it bothered me that potentially interested readers might pass my stories over because of scores under 4.

cat (funky name) I wouldn't worry so much about it...good stories speak for themselves regardless the score :) Welcome by the way!

Yeah, the score on my poem "Mind Fuck" went way up, but I lost my little H... Go figure.
