After four days and nights of almost continuous bombing and mayhem...

It's still there!!

I can't help but think of my poll, "Should we bomb Afghanistan?" OK. That's a bit self-absorbed...oops, wrong thread.:)

someone told me "They cant bomb afghanistan to the stone age...It's allready there"
 
But all military ordinance has a "use by" date. Afghanistan is just a handy place, at the moment, to dump all the stuff that's getting to the end of it's shelf life.
 
On a serious note, we should hope for the best for the men and women of Afghanistan that have nothing to do with this. Gods have mercy on them.
 
If you want to know about the long and enduring tradition of civilization in Afghanistan you could do worse than to read Peter Levi's "The Light Garden of the Angel King".
A fantastic history and travel book.
