What's Good?

You tell me.

Lists, prose, poetry, discussion, reports, you name it.

I'll even start.

1. New socks
2. Adorably fat cats
3. The anticipation of lunch

4. Today I had to get up way too early for my liking, but I was saved from that blinding strobe that is morning sunlight because it's a lovely, moist, cloudy day here. It was like the world was trying to be gentle with me since it knew the drive would be rough for me. It laid a kind grey blanket over me so that I could pretend I was still happily in bed.

So. What's good?

1.) Kansas is full of good people with perspective
2.)Tom Robbins
3.)Candles
4.) I have people to care for, and that care for me
5.)Literotica

I had never quite realized how much Lou Reed sounds like Mark Knopfler or, actually, the other way around.

I found this oddly fascinating. Guy recreates Mark's guitar track, shot from a headstock-mounted cam. Makes me think that with oh, a year or so's practice, I could play this.

Sorry. Diversion. Let's get Back on Track.

  1. Canadian national election tonight. (I love to watch politics and I get the CBC.)
  2. MLB tonight, too. You go, Rays.
  3. It was sunny today. In October!
  4. Certain people. You Know Who You Are.

Good:

a world where, odd as it may be, one guy can learn to play Mark Knopfler's guitar riff, and then mount a camera on his guitar, film it, upload it to YouTube, and then be found and shared with a bunch of sex poets looking for a good time.

Man, this 21st century is just, you know, super.

Bwah!

That's hilarious. More people should do stuff like this.

I'm a little amazed now that I wasn't more traumatized by that movie as a kid. In retrospect, it looks pretty scary in places. And besides, they made the witch a bad guy...

Yes indeed that's good.

Okay:

1. Rosemary-olive oil sourdough bread
2. Partly cloudy days when the light shifts back and forth all afternoon.
3. Tuxedos
4. Amber oil

1. making romantic pursuits and gestures of friendship in good faith rather than treating them as coup
2. giving people the chance to explain themselves if you think they've been buttheads
3. admitting it when you've been a butthead
4. being read aloud to while curled up and a little sleepy
5. Sharon Olds's poem about testicles

Can I share your first one before finally shrugging my shoulders and saying up yours?!!

I found this oddly fascinating.

And here we are in the middle of a very amusing night.

I get on line and I play this cut of yours for a young companion who was kind enough to keep me company and tell me stories as this night passed. She's 26, adorable, occasionally drama ridden, had some things she needed to talk to me about, so there was an evening.

she had the same reaction I did when I saw it, cause it's just how I am, only I am learning from her that it's okay to verbalize it a little more often. She's watching the camera angle and listening to the music and she says,

"I love Mark Knopfler. I just want to suck on that."

She's so much like me. And she's good for me. She teaches me how to speak forthrightly.

Because that's exactly what I thought, when I saw that, but I don't bother to say those things any more. And sometimes, just maybe, I should. Regardless of whether or not anyone will understand, or feel the same way.

So that's my blog. What's good is talking about Who You Really Are, what you actually think.

Well, and certain people. You Know Who You Are.

That played right along my spinal column and rattled my rib cage.

What's Good?
  • Music
    Sunsets
Words, even when you can't find them
    Chocolate
    A fully stocked bar

Okay, this is really and truly not related to any of the current drama and discussion around the PFD. It's something I saw in an avatar yesterday and it seriously cracked me up.

What's good is laughter. We can all use more, every day, than what we usually get. I hope this provides some:

:D :D :D

mission accomplished

Ok, in the name of peace and love and mostly what's good, I offer this. If you haven't seen it yet, I promise you it is funny to the point where you might want to pee before you open the link lest you have an Attends moment. :)

Bwah!

Glad you warned me.

Go gangbang me, baby. It'll make us both feel better.

Boy does art imitate life or what? That was 40 years ago and it's better than Nostradamus. I hope Tzara sees it. I bet he remembers the originals, like me lol.

How old do you think I am?

I mean, I was in eighth grade at the time. I think.

Neal Hefti, who composed the Batman TV show theme, played with Woody Herman and was an arranger for Count Basie. He died last Saturday.

I had forgotten that Burt Ward is really short.

Really.

I remember watching Batman as a kid, so I'm sure you did, too. Hell we both remember the same musical stuff. And I knew about Hefti. I believe he was around from the late 50s on with Basie and arranged much of the second great wave of a Count Basie band in the Joe Williams era like the this stuff. That band was amazing, sounded like a locomotive. But this is my favorite from the 58 Newport concert.

My bff neighbor had a crush on Burt Young. She used to buy Tiger Beat and moon over him. I wasn't a big Batman fan though I did once see the Riddler coming down the escalator at Caesar's Palace in Atlantic City.

Oops. Double post. I got all excited about the Red Sox tying the game and overclicked!

This is good.

It's going on virtually right outside my door right now. It's called "Bras across the Kaw" and it's an event designed to raise awareness for Breast Cancer research.

And it's adorable and wonderful and involves underwear, which makes it even better.

Here's a nice artsy shot.

Good. Indeed.
