What's cookin', good lookin'? Part II

Roasted rutabaga, parsnips, and zucchini. Oh! so good but rutabagas are already gone from the stores. *pouts*

The veggie soup wasn't bad either.

Seriously? I thought that was their chief advantage over a lot of veggies: they keep all winter into the spring. Dont they wax them in the South?

I, among other things, fed people roasted Jerusalem artichokes today. They were so good!

Faux Chicken Pot Pie
Faux Pot Roast
Faux Sloppy Joes
Fried Artichoke Hearts

Roast beef, potato-parsnip puree and some other veggies depending on what I can find in the fridge.

I got a new wireless thermometer for Christmas and I'm going to use it for the first time today. :)

Edit: I truly live in the future now. Such a cool gadget.

Yesterday's roast was so good, I'm happy to have leftovers. :)

Lunch: salad with the leftover roast.
Dinner: Black bean and tomato soup with fresh baked rolls. I have a day off and I'm in need of some dough therapy, so why not.

Okay, the bread rolls turned out to be the best I've ever made. The texture is great with a crunchy crust but soft on the inside. I used the leftover parsnip potato puree from yesterday and some teff flour in my rolls too, and they're just so damn tasty.

I slightly(? TBD) injured myself in the baking process, so I'm really glad they at least turned out tasty. I didn't hurt myself for naught.

Frittata with eggplant, spinach and feta and salad.

Everything's ready to go, just need someone to come and put the frittata in the oven for me and take it out. Because I ain't gonna be doing any of that for a good while.

Note to Walmart: Sprinkling bird seed on the dough does not make it "whole grain".

:D

Speaking of breads, what's the difference between white and wheat? I always thought white is wheat, until I was asked if I want white or wheat. Actually the question didn't compute at all and I thought I was asked if I want "wide or wheat" and was very confused. Whatever.

Short answer, wheat bread incorporates the bran rather than just the endosperm. Perhaps it makes more sense if you know that another name for "wheat" is "whole grain."

<~ wasted a semester in college studying "Food Technology"

Thanks, whole grain makes sense.

Fresh pimento cheese mixed up and fresh cottage cheese salad sitting in a bowl to mingle the seasoning.

Veggie Thai red curry. I'm having leftovers for lunch today. So yum!

Also kind of unhealthy. I should find healthier foods that are easy to make and I love.

Faux Chicken Pot Pie (Fri Chik)
Faux Pot Roast (Redi Burger and Vegan Worcestershire)
Faux Sloppy Joes (Redi Burger)
Fried Artichoke Hearts

Btw, red curry is the only one I love!

What goes into your faux versions?
