Nope not harsh. It's to let the guys know that yes we may be big, but we are still beautiful and that they sometimes miss out on a good thing. Not saying that all guys do this, but the majority only want the petite women.

My mother was very skinny. My father said that when his father first met her, he sort of yelled at my father, in Polish, telling him that he didn't know what he was doing marrying such a skinny woman - nothing to hold on to or play with. (this used to get my mother rather annoyed)
