Less views, more votes?

Interestingly I put up a story in a category I haven't before, (Sci-Fi) and got more votes with less views than the Group Sex category one my other stories tend to fall in (for some strange reason!) and although to date the Sci-Fi one is just under 4.5 the comments are way above (and more) than what the others have done and I find it quite an inspiration to push on with writing the following chapter(s).

Is it more the niche effect or a peculiarity of the category (that others have e.g. Loving Wives Shark Pool)?

Thoughts? Comments?

I'm with 3113. My last story is rated 4.0 in BDSM with over 8700 views. Unfortunately, nary a comment can be seen. I'd rather have comments.

I think it takes an effort to make a comment and vote, something which a lot of people choose not to do.

When I think I know a bit more about writing, I may comment better than the "I liked it" type of comment I use most of the time.
If I really loved a story, I'll tell the author.
But I seldom use my id; I prefer anoniminity.

I'd gladly take more comment and critique than votes. I try to enter the contests only to get more eyes in my direction, but some folks are drawn to certain genres, so even that fails occasionally.
