What would you do?

If your steamy cyber-lover, who you've never met in real life, sends you his/her picture and this person turns out to be a friend/neighbor/co-worker or, egad, the of-legal-age child of a friend/neighbor/co-worker, what would you do?

Do you break it off immediately? Go on with the relationship and not admit who you are? Level with the person and reveal yourself?

What do you do?

Run!

Assuming I haven't yet sent my pic, I'd just cut it off.

(The relationship that is.)

Honestly? if its the of-age-child, that would get a little too weird...going to your neighbors...

"Hey Jim, your yard looks great"
"Thanks Tom"
"Think i can borrow the hedgeclippers?"
"Sure, no problem"
"Oh, and while you're at it, ask your hot little piece of ass daughter to come out here and blow me"

I mean, thats way too weird. But, if its someone else you know, your age? see what happens, ya know, see if you can hit it off.

what society probably wants to hear, and reality might be different things.

Hard to say until you are in that situation.

Why?

Everything above board? Hot cyber, good connection, assuming you still find them attractive IRL, and no actual lies between you? This could be the start of something beautiful.

This kinda happened to me.

This guy and i hit it off at a chat place.
Talked for ages, became close, talked about everything.
I know him better than his mother, almost.

Anyways,he sends me a pic and it's a guy who i do contract work for.

It took me 2 weeks to build up the courage to tell him.

And now he gives me a sly grin of a night as i'm goin into work and he's leaving.*L*

coulda been worse.

What if one or both of you are married? Say it's the spouse of a close friend?

Well now, IMHO, that's somewhere you shouldn't have been in the first place.

O'

That has never happen to me and I think that is why I never converse with people who are from around my area...

I enjoy meeting others from different cities and states.... I already have enough friends .. no need to be chatting with someone from my city.

Zoinks ! Some how that came out sounding bad ... but ya know what I am saying... :)

Because I would be mortally embarrassed. I have a hard time admitting to people that I cyber. Scratch that, I don't admit I do.

I just wouldn't be comfortable playing so close to home. Seeing this person out at the mail box every day. That's not the way most of my relationships have worked. Just wouldn't be accustomed to it.

But who knows until it happens, right?

Sounds like it didn't "kinda" happen. Sounds more like it DID happen.

:D

I quite agree.
It's like being busted. Even though this is my private entertainment on my own time & equipment, I don't think this site fits with my employer's corporate image or diversity policy. I don't think they'd take the time to appreciate LIT for what it is. Some of us require liscensing & character references in our professions. Being revealed would not be a good career move.

Interesting. These are the kinds of things I think about when I'm home alone and the cable's out.

i just came in to cop a feel of eagles yummy arms..........*swoon*

Yay! George Carlin references!

Throb, it's that kind of thinking that kept you out of the really good schools. ;)

Kate, I read this and thought of us.

At least our city is the size of some small nations. LOL!

LOL--you gotta change them britches, perky, I think they're cutting off the circulation or something--yer ass needs to breathe, sweetie.
