I believe that the serpent' actions were the greatest gift that Man/Womenkind has ever recieved. Otherwise, we would still be walking around in naked ignorance.

Imagine this world with no discoveries because everything has ben handed to us on a silver platter. Life would cerainly have been simpler, but, would it have been better? Think about it,

n.b. I know that the biblical story of the Garden of Eden and the serpent is just a fairy tale, but I use it here because you all know the story.

Need a refresher?

I think the ignorance in the fairy tale was ignorance of good and evil, not the ignorance that you refer to.

And - an apple? Huh? Are you sure we all know the story?

well i guess i think having all the discoveries and technology doesnt make the world a better place ... material things dont make people happy and its the simply things that make people happy like falling in love

in the garden of eden you wouldnt need any of the technology because nobody would be sick ... people wouldnt have material things and could find happyness in whats importent eachother :)

I always thought that the fairy tale...,

was about free will. Good and evil is sooooo subjective. I mean, there are folks that think that fucking infants is good and smoking dope is evil.

OK FB - you're the one who introduced the bible fairy tale into this thread - not me.

So, in light of that fact:

Good and Evil is not subjective, it is spelled out pretty clearly in the fairy tale you use as a reference. No, not crystal clear, but it is pretty clear if you read it often.

And, an apple? huh?

No way -

I am a professed Christian, and honestly, to equate human Christain will and desire with Gods will and desire is a stretch.

It's obvious to me, with all the factions in the Christian world, that Christians are very very fragmented as to the will of God.

Yah see?

Christians, self-professed or not......

Just got no sense of humor.

But my point, extended to this comment means - Do you think God has no sense of humor?

Or are you like me and think that God is the creator of humor?

I think God (whatever "that" may be)

And I "like to beleive" - "that it" - "may be"......

Definately has a sense of humor - all you have to do is look around......

Look at each other. Look into a mirror. Look at your ears - all pretty damn funny.

Look at a smile.

Look at animals.

Look at nature.

Look at us typing shit that means nothing on this board.

Humor is everywhere.

D.S., perhaps you would to return to....

the "good old days" when men were men amd women were property. Not me!!

And Sparky, I would love to see another battle between the devout Christians and the devout Moslems to who is the most righteous. Oh for the days of the Crusades. Where's Richard the Lion Hearted when we need him??

Hah! Now "the good ole days?"

Now that's a fairy tale for you.

How intellectually lathargic does one have to be to want that?

This seems to be out of context here -

I'm not sure what you are referring to as I'm not advocating returning to any days. As for property, I've said this before on this board and gotten myself as well as the Bible and God flamed, but I'll say it once more, since you, Blue, chose to bring them into this - there's no Biblical edict against slavery, against "owning" another individual. In fact, the Bible goes to great lengths to teach one how to properly treat your slaves/possessions. In fact, provisions are given to free all slaves and forgive all debts on a cyclical basis, every 50 years to be exact, all slaves were set free and all debts were forgiven, the slate was wiped clean - the year of Jubilee - and the cycle began anew, according to the book of Leviticus.

But I digress.

I guess to truly answer your question, if Eve had not eaten the forbidden, then Adam would have, or one of the kids would have or eventually someone would have - after all, they obviously had the luxury of free-will, free-choice even in the beginning, otherwise, there would have been no forbidden fruit to choose.
