What was the first R-Rated movie you ever saw in a theater?

SONG OF THE SOUTH.

I bought my bootleg copy from a black guy. Gotta love the irony.

my older brother took me to see 'freddy's dead: the final nightmare'. my first r-rated AND my first 3D movie. all i remember is that it was fucking frightening.

if R-rated is like our 18 or adult rating, then it was the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre when i was between 16 and 18 - not sure due to this:

The film was rejected by the British film censors in 1975, but it did get a limited cinema release in the London area thanks to the GLC (Greater London Council). It was banned again in 1977

freaked me the fuck out. leatherface - the piggy noises! and there was no let-up in the violence. really horrifying to me at the time.

I saw quite a few movies before the advent of the alphabetical ratings, such as "Never on Sunday" and some Brigitte Bardot vehicles that would have been R rated but would probably be PG now. I also saw X rated movies, with limited nudity, that would probably be R rated now.

"Midnight Cowboy" was rated X when it won an Oscar, but I think it is PG now. The original ratings were unrealistic.

Nothing that was rated R before would be PG now, PG is the lowest REAL rating in the world. G is a myth.

I think the first movie I saw that was rated R was Alien Ressurection. It was certainly the first one I saw without my parents because I was like 15 and I remember my Mom just saying "Keep calm and buy the ticket" because I looked old so nobody would question it as long as I didn't get squirrely.

i saw the original "Exorcist" at a drive-thru.
but luckily i don't remember much

An Alien flick, I think. Cant remember which one. Around 90-ish.

Robocop, that first scene when I was a kid was heavy to say the least

First R movie I remember seeing was robocop. First I saw in theatres was the patriot

A double feature of Death Wish and The Longest Yard. I was WAAAYYYY too young, especially for Death Wish. Dad didn't always have the best judgment. If I'm remembering correctly that this was the same day, it was preceded by this short porno-ish film of a bunch of hippies skinny dipping and having sex.

I think it was Frida. I went because it got me extra credit in Spanish class. I went with my dad. Everything about this story makes me sound super, super cool.

Sidenote: does anyone speak Spanish? I decided recently that I should take up practicing again.

I don't have any idea. It was a B-grade semi-skin flick shown at an off campus theater that was trying to pay the light bill. A modern multi-screen theater had just opened a few blocks away, so the management decided to go for the soft core market.
