What was the best present you got this year?

I think mine is the new cellphone I got from my folks. Now I got a triband and camera phone. Yaay. (Care more about the triband though!)

We talked a friend, who this year newly moved here from Kentucky, into doing Christmas with us. That makes me so happy-- she has been a great friend to my daughter and she doesn't deserve to be alone.

Katherine and Jackie wrote me letters, which their mother put in the Christmas card envelope. I got a darwing of what their tree looks like from Katherine (she wrote the note herself, a complete sentence. The kid has grown up.) . Jackie did a poster drawing of a frypan and the label EGGS, with a note that she'd grown bigger and I'd have to have a bigger frypan next time they visit.

Eggs? Frypan? Long story.

Her handwriting is really good these days. Those are such nice kids. Their dad has a very cool job as a pilot and they live in the DC area now. That letter with the drawings just made my day.

Well, I've only ogtten one present so far (haven't done the home thing yet), and I'm only posting because of what it was and that I saw Svenskaflicka started the thread. In the family grab-bag (on my dad's side, ths is) my grandmother unknowingly bought me both the book and movie version of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." I started reading the book and am surprised that it's fairly interesting and well-written.
