My wife and I didn't head up to Melbourne as we had been thinking of doing. Too much to do down here. We did manage to take the bike out for a little bit of decompresion and shopping and there is the tale.

We hit the local store and did out shopping. We had left our helmets locked in the cargo box so we didn't have to carry them. As we cvame walking out there was the bike, and there was some guy sitting on it. WTF?

I walked up to him and asked him what he was doing and he started into this story about looking at bikes so he could chose one to buy. OKay not smart but plausible. I ask him to get off the bike and he starts complaining about my attitude. He wanted to check it out and he was going to check it out. Now is when I'm starting to get a bit irritated and I tell him to get his ass off my bike.

He looks at me like I'm stupid or something and tells me he isn't getting off the bike until I can prove it's my bike and even then he'll just think about it. No I didn't take his sorry ass off my bike, although I was tempted especially when he took it off the stand and was trying to roll it. Instead I pulled out my cell and made a phone call. When he saw this he really got irritated and demanded to know who I was calling. I just put the phone away and smiled. Within a couple of minutes here comes a member of the local Sheriffs Department. He pulls up and the guy really starts in.

The cop listens to him for a minute then turns to me. He didn't even have to say a word, I just handed him my license and registration. He glanced at them then told the guy to get off the bike. As he climbed off the bike the officer escorted him away while talking to him. When the cop came back he just shook his head while commenting about how the number of bikes being stolen in our county was going up.

Now maybe this guy was in truth just checking out bikes, if so he was doing it in a dangerous way. On the other hand if he was trying to steal the bike he could have chosen a better and easier one to steal.

On the other hand, maybe he was looking to start a fight so he could sue someone and thought a biker was a good target.

Seacat - I am so glad you kept a cool head. How is it that you attract so many lunatics again?

I live vicariously through you. Can you go get really drunk in a biker bar? :)

What a dumbass! Even I, as one who is never around a bike, know that you do not sit on, touch, or even breathe near another man's bike. What the hell was he thinking? Would you climb in a convertible just because the top was down? Um, no!!! Idiot. Good for you that you didn't pound him into the ground for being such an ass. (shaking head at his stupidity)

As someone here once had in their sig line, I am flypaper for crazy people.

Then again like I have said in the past maybe it's because I tend to notice things. I look around me and watch.

Oh and just south of us today we had a five year old swipe the keys from his mother, take the car for a joyride and whack into a couple of cars.

For whatever reason, he wanted a fight with a biker. He wanted to get beat up. Or Killed. Or he had a hidden weapon, and was planning to kill you. Or...

He took your bike off the kickstand????

You live in South Nutland, dude. Reynolds should start production of real tinfoil once more, there's a crying need for it.

Dear lord, my husband knows if someone so much as looks at his bike. He would have beat the hell out of the guy.

You're much calmer than either one of us could ever be. :D

I'm only calm because I could see the locks were still in place. If he had removed the locks or if he had removed or opened any of the covers my reaction would have been much different. (If he had dropped the bike, well I have never claimed to be civilised.)
