Dyn, a Domain Name System (DNS) provider for some of the internet’s most popular websites, confirmed they were the subject of a global DDoS attack on their DNS infrastructure on the east coast.

Trump made a fool of himself at a charity dinner.
Did Putin step in, and strike a blow for his buddy ?

A very severe and extreme method of interrupting the current discussion on Trump. Are the recent Trump memes too harsh ? Is this an effort to force the media to move on to the latest outrage ? Is the media feed stuck on examining Trump's flaws ?

Or, is it revenge from Julian Assange supporters ?

No internet for him, no internet for you ?

Trump is part of his calculations to escape his room in the Ecuadorian Embassy in Knightsbridge. A presidential pardon may stop him facing jail in the US (though no charges have been brought against him there so far), but it won’t stop his extradition to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations.

Trump brought the subject up, but now he does not want to talk about it.

It seems that Trump has reached the point of facing the fact that bad publicity is just that.

What does Trump do when faced with questions he does not want to answer ?

Dyn says it is investigating yet another attack, causing the same massive outages experienced this morning. Based on emails from Gizmodo readers, this new wave of attacks seems to be affecting the West Coast of the United States and Europe. It’s so far unclear how the two attacks are related, but the outages are very similar.

The question of who is behind attacks like this, though, remains unanswered. Criminals are unlikely to be motivated by such attacks, as there’s little to gain from them other than widespread disruption. That lends some weight to Schneier’s suggestion that a large nation state, such as China or Russia, could be developing large-scale DDoS capabilities. Though it’s impossible to say for sure.

Lance Larson, a cyber expert at San Diego State University, said, “Historically, a broad attack on the infrastructure of the Internet has involved someone making a statement. There are examples of someone launching an attack to hide the fact that they’re going to attack something else.”

The incident comes amid growing tensions between the U.S. and Russia over cyberspace. Russia is allegedly responsible for hacking the Democratic National Committee and the Clinton campaign in an effort to influence the U.S. presidential election. The Obama administration has vowed “proportional retaliation” at an unnamed time and

Not just the East Coast

Looks like this is probably going to get even worse before it gets any better. Dyn says they are being hit with a third wave of attacks. Dyn told CNBC the attack is “well planned and executed, coming from tens of millions IP addresses at same time.”

Trump gives Wikileaks lavish praise.

Wikileaks is saying this attack is being mounted by their supporters.

WikiLeaks told its supporters:

Mr. Assange is still alive and WikiLeaks is still publishing. We ask supporters to stop taking down the US internet. You proved your point.

Is the DDoS attack revenge for Julian Assange losing his wifi password at the Ecuadoran embassy ?

A DDoS attack on Dyn, a DNS provider.

Sounds like the attack was brought to you by the letter E.

It was me. My computer got a virus. It's better now, sorry everyone.

No, it's all my fault. I was playing with some old JavaScxript malware and one escaped. My bad. I'll clean i up after the painkillers wear off. (The dentist did three fillings today.) Hey, anyone got any opioids to share?

IoT manufactures for making shitty products with no security.

Actually there have been probing attacks going on for some time.

Or perhaps it's just a test run for the Nov 8th big event ? Nah, who could possibly want to cast any doubt and confusion on election night?

The GOP and their asshat candidate will stop thinking so highly of Assange and WikiLeaks once they're hacked and leaked. It's just a matter of time.

You guys had better start cleaning up those Perl scripts! What am I paying for you?

You can bet those fine Diebold machines made in Ohio will be malfunctioning November 8th.

Scenario: Massive hack-attacks on 8 Nov 2016 disrupt net and phone commo, power grids, other infrastructure. Rioting breaks out at many 'downed' polling places. Many governors declare states of emergency, call up National Guard, clamp down on travel, etc. USA is in chaos. Then on 9 Nov 2016 some foreign power does something nasty. Further chaos. Oy.

Yes, that's paranoid. But is it sufficiently paranoid?
