Maybe this happened to you when you were new.

I submitted my first story on Saturday. I check every day to see if it has been posted, but so far, nothing. This morning I began checking around the site and noticed the story editors option. I contacted an editor and sent her my story. She suggested I retrieve and re-submit my story.

How do I do that, or does an admin have to do it for me?

Thanks.

resubmit your story with "delete" appended to the title and explain in the notes box that you are withdrawing it for editing and resubmission. It will take as long for it to disappear (and in the meantime it might appear for a few days) as it does for one to post upon submission.

Then, when you have a new version, just submit it again--and it should take three to seven days to post, depending on whether there is a contest running at the time. It will post faster if it has been submited to the contest.

If it hasn't been approved yet, click the "Pending" link. You should see the information for the story appear.

At the bottom, there should be an option to preview, or delete. You can delete the submission before it's approved, to ensure that the inferior version never makes it into the public eye.

Get the story edited, and then submit the improved version. You'll have to start the waiting process all over again, but at least the old version isn't going to be out there knocking around.
