Sometimes I start to write a story and no matter how far I'm in...it just gets stuck. Passion for the story is gone, need to write it drained away...and the story is there, staring at me, mocking me.

What do you do with those stories?

I have a couple of suggestions for people who have stories sitting, lonely, waiting for purpose:

1) recycle them into your new stories (the easy answer) use sex scenes or descriptions or characters for new stories that you're more passionate about.

2) post the half finished story as-is on CHYOO and let others enjoy and add to it.

Phew! I've been wondering for 20 years what to do with my story about the enchanted bike that could fulfill the owner 3 wishes if he rang its bell...

yeah and now you know to keep the sex sceen with the horn and just transfer it into the story about the little girl who was looking for her cunny

Hiya, Svenska, you Swedish cutie. Glad you're back.

Dear Chickie,
I always donate them to a good charity. I think it's wonderfully altruistic to provide smut for those unfortunates who cannot produce their own.
Philanthropically,

I did CHYOO, but never went back so I'll skip.

I just let the moulder on my hard drive.

Hehe!!

Hey Svenska honey, you ring my bell!!! ( I've never been the same since you posted that new AV)

I have about six of the little badgers Chicklet, well I did, should I say, last week I think I lost patience and deleted some with other junk I wanted shot of, I say think cos there may be a saved draft or three left in MS word auto save files, not sure yet.

I sometimes start again and try to add a bit, but I find once the interest and inspiration has gone, that's it, end of the line for that particular tale.

Use some bits in other tales? Maybe, but I find it difficult to do this sort of thing without altering stuff around so much another story goes on the scrap heap of frustration.

Post them for others to finish? Maybe again, but my stuff is a bit crude for mainstream authors to take up on, also a lot of it is fact based and without the facts it could be awkward for someone else to take it on.

Sad really isn't it, I wonder if the stories feel half finished and inadiquate, lay there in some file weeping quietly, hoping among hope for a finishing burst and the light of published day sometime.
God this beer's strong tonight.

pops.........:)

why didn't you go back to CHYOO? (curiosity)

Compost.

It's nature's way. She produces far more than can survive to maturity, and if you're a fluent writer so do you. You leave them round, and one day after you've written a lot more (much of it better, and much of it using similar ideas) you look at the old dead scrap and think one of two things:

(1) You're rubbish, my old son. Into the bin with you.

or
(2) There's a good idea in that. Only about three lines are worth saving, so I can just sew them into what I'm writing now and throw the rest away.

Not that I'm the jealous or competitive type woman (or bitch), and Flicka is my pretty pal, but just what bell are you talking about, Pops?

Does it have a big clanger? Have I ever seen its like? Does it echo? Does it only ring-a-ding over buxom blonds or is it possible for a brunette to cause it to boink, uh, boing?

Perdita needs to know real soon

*pokes SK gently*

Missed ya hon. Like my AV? *grin*

Chicklet - I go back over them after a while and see if I cant bring back some enthusiasm for them...

One day I just got pissed off.

I printed them all up, and laid them in Friday’s litter box, one after another, four hours for each. The ones he didn’t crap on, I decided must be worth keeping. Friday has good taste. :D

I got rid of nearly half my unfinished stories that way.

But, what I should do about the one that was on my desk, which he climbed onto and coughed up a furball?

I still can’t decide! :(

I've yet to completely give up on a story that I started writing, although I have gotten to a point where I felt like it wasn't working and just stopped at that point.

I have a some stories sitting near completion now. A few are ones I started last year. I plan to finish them later when some new inspiration strikes me.

Pookie :rose:

J-Le, J-Le... please don't be mad at me for putting your AV down, but - if you insist one having a South Park AV, I'll put you on Ignore together with Earl.:(

Old odds and ends

I just leave them. Sometimes I come back to them, other times I take parts of them and put them into new works. It costs nothing to just keep them around.

I would hold on to them. Wouldn't they provide a source of inspiration character-wise for motivation, intention or background?

I just think it would suck if I woke up one morning and said to myself: "THAT is the perfect way to get that story going!" only to remember I deleted it some time ago. :(

Maybe you could start a 'half-assed" thread on the story ideas fourm. Throw the gist of them in there, and let others brainstorm on them. Couldn't hurt.
