What to do with an inappropriate comment

I posted my first incest/taboo story a few days ago, and today I received a comment, from a user with a creation date of today, basically extolling the virtues of pedophilia (not quite that eloquently, for sure). It's basically the kind of comment that we cannot write stories for here on this site. My story does not include what he's advocating, and I definitely disagree with the comment. There's almost no praise or criticism for my story in his comment, except for an 'I love this story', which is all well and good but not all that rewarding considering the source.

Question is, should I delete this comment? Does Lit monitor public comments like these? It would seem like a breach of the TOS or something to be praising something like pedophilia on this site. I'm leaning towards deleting it, but I wanted to see what others thought, or if there was an official policy on it.

I'd say that you're well within your bounds of deleting that one. It does indeed break a submission rule, and it obviously bothers you.

There are no official guidelines for deleting comments, so do what is best for your own piece of mind.

There are rules for posting comments, I just don't have the URL for them at the moment, but they do have the same guidelines as anything that's posted here. If it extols something illegal then delete it just like a post here would be delete or a story wouldn't be posted.

Having rules on posting comments is pretty irrelevant. The Web site posts that it's up to the author to police his/her own comments sections. I have, though, seen comments disappear without author intervention that had URLs in them, so the Web site is doing some policing.

If you don't like it for any reason, it's entirely in your power/right to zap it.

I've never deletd a comment so far, but what you describe I would delete. The comments section is for people to respond to your story, not to push raping children.

I've seen a rise in spam comments lately; what is allegedly a comment is actually just an advert for some other site. I say pull the plug on it with extreme prejudice.
