Most of them are trolls of the same ilk that you'll find on other social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). They like riling people up, it's what they live for. They have no lives of their own.

On Lit, some are jealous because others are having sex and they aren't. So they'll fuck with people to mess with them. It validates their existence, at least to them it does. The truth is they're three year old's in 60 year old bodies. And what they won't admit to themselves is if they died tomorrow, no one would miss them.

I think Katie's point makes a lot of sense. I also speculate the following. Some of them like the idea of "tricking" straight men to engage in sexual chat with them. I am NOT suggesting that gay men are more likely (or less likely) than other men to be deceptive. A huge percentage of guys on here pretend to be younger, in better shape, thinner, more well endowed, etc. So pretending to be another gender is just another tool in that toolbox.
Also - pure speculation on my part....but it would seem that openly gay men would be less likely to do that than those who suppress that part if themselves.

Assume you mean the number of women is vastly overstated with a significant number of them actually being men.

I can't speak for the boards as I have little experience here, but I did spend some time in the chat and between the obvious ones and a few that I know for a fact from conversations, I feel like there are 3 accounts for every human who actually logs in and 2/3 of the "women" are not.

The running joke was that the more suggestive the name, the more likely it's a male.

Now, why? On chat it is fairly simple, it's a sausage fest and in order for guys to get attention, they will often use female nicks. Probably more true in the bi or lesbian rooms (amazing how 90% of all the women on lit chat are bi )

This is what used tonREALLY bothers me. Guys (and some women too) try to get someone/ANYONE to engage with them. They'll create multiple profiles on here to create a facade but if you READ, Theyre pretty obvious to spot.

I'll give my opinion because you asked why?

Let's say a guy posts he has a fetish to have another man fuck his wife..... He bumps his post frequently, sometimes daily to get a response. Then he created a "couple" profile (fake), then acts as IF it's the wife posting.....and BAM. INBOX FULL. he's then is talking to men who share HIS views for wanting to swap or bull his wife. He's excited!!! Both pasprties are turned on but it's under a false pretense. I give credit to the guys who openly say they'll chat with ANYONE that shares the fetish they have. It a more honest approach. And no one really gets hurt because the guy can decide if he CHOOSES to talk about his shared fetish with another guy.

Want another common example?
I see "DD/lg" posts in the personals all the time. So what do you do if you write a general one or two sentence ad? You may get a few, if any responses. But if you post as a woman wanting a daddy.....BOOM. full inbox.

They do it because they like FEELING popular, wanted and desired. Even if it's a total lie. They might've had a better chance doing what a lot of women do on here..... (I read their ads) They put thought into them. They are specific. They don't want to pour their dreams and fantasies on here publicly only to get 235 responses of "wanna chat?"

I've been fooled and catfished so many times, I can't count. I've had great friendships lost and I've been crushed many times on here, it used to bother me, it used to get me to engage and argue. I gave that shit up now. I personally could care less what the trolls think of me. Have at it. The only way to kill a troll is to hit ignore, don't engage, and laugh it off. Now they'll have to try a different tactic. Tomorrow is another day. That's why i'm encouraged because the real women on here are honest, flirty and fun. But they're smart enough to know who else is genuine.

These are great points and I respect the thought that went into this response. It is fairly easy to spot the men who are creating profiles as female Lit users. It truly is laughable and cringeworthy.

I assume that 80% of the posts are fake. 15% are either dudes complaining about not getting female attention or women complaining about getting the wrong kind of attention. The remaining 5% might be genuine but are probably also fake.

Also a good portion are those who will try to get you to sign onto their sites/websites that need credit card access. It happens here too. They're so desperate for money that they'll spend time on these sites hoping that someone pays them.
