I had three regular wine glasses of red wine and 3/4ths of an 8-oz margarita that was not that strong...all of this WITH a good-sized dinner, and I was drunker than I'd ever been in my life and I vomited twice (which NEVER happens...IF I vomit it's once). I've been asleep on the couch for the last six hours. Right now I'm just a little nauseated with a tiny touch of a headache. I've had FAR more alcohol than that in the past and NEVER been THAT drunk or THAT sick. Anybody have any clue what might've happened? 'Cause that might be just enough to make me a teetotaler for the rest of my life. NOT pleasant. :(

Maybe it was the mix of red wine and margarita? Or maybe you weren't well anyway, and it just brought it to an abrupt and rather explosive head?

I dunnow. Two glasses of red wine can do that to me, but that's because I'm an absolute lightweight when it comes to alcohol.

Repent! It's the Devil's Brew, anyway

Hope it didn't give you too much of a hangover :rose:

Acid reflux? Did you drink on an empty stomach, then eat? Was there an unusual amount of excitement before the meal? Either that or you body rejected an ingredient in the dinner.

I'd suspect the dinner or the company.

Not that someone poisoned you but I've noticed the effect of the different energetic states on alchohol consumption.

Talking a lot and being keen on the conversation or company can affect your heart rate and metabolism resulting in speedier absorption.

Alternatively the point in the gut where the absorption takes place can also have a similar effect. (which is why some medication should be taken with/before or after food)

Or it could just be food poisoning.:(

It was probably a virus or stomach flu, and not the booze. Sometimes bacteria and bugs get into our stomach that don't give us full-out food poisoning but can make us sick for a bit and we blame it on something else. However, mixing wine and tequila isn't really that good for you either. I mixed wine and dark beer once (in, uh, much larger amounts) and my date almost had to call 911 because I tumbled down the stairs.

Eeek - Mixing never works unless its like with like
ever hear the saying beer then wine is fine wine then beer is queer?
But aside from that - there is only one thing that ever did that to me -
EPT was positive the next day.....

Sorry for your pain

It sounds like you just happened to get drunk and come down with a cold or the flu at the same time. It's easy to confuse the symptoms of an inner ear problem caused by congestion with the dizziness of a mild buzz -- when they combine it just makes the Drunk seem Drunker.

I can think of a couple of serious health problems that this might be a symptom of, so if you don't begin to feel better soon, see a doctor; definitely mention it the next time you do see a doctor.

In addition to some of the insights already offered, in my experience several factors seem to play a part in how I feel later. First, I guess I would ask how often you drink? If you hadn't had much alcohol in a while, that would definitely affect your tolerance and how well your body processes the alcohol.

Secondly, besides the food, did you have much water in your system? Before, during and/or after drinking? Alcohol greatly depletes your hydration levels and if you started with little water in your system, it surely dropped lower. For me that causes the massive headache. Either way, you should probably try to hydrate today as that should help some.

Lastly, I notice that where I am in my cycle can greatly affect the effects of alcohol in my system. There are times when I could drink without ever really feeling anything that evening (much to my irritation), but my body would later feel like I tried to drink enough for the entire nation... none of the fun and all of the pain.

Sadly, I don't drink much anymore. As I've gotten older (ahem), I don't seem to tolerate the alcohol very well and I get the hangover feeling within an hour or two of drinking. Mostly that's with wine and even beer, and I haven't tried hard liquor in quite some time. It's a shame, too, 'cause I liked drinking now and again - I just get happier and happier - but the headache and feeling of hangover wasn't worth it anymore.

Anyway, hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon.
