Vote tampering gives me the shits! Less than 12 hours ago my latest submission Educating the Capo Chapter 3 was sitting at number one on the site toplist with a score of five from 53 votes. Two votes later and its at number 86. I'm not a rich guy and was kinda hoping that I'd have a chance in the monthly comp... and all things being equal I might have.

I don't give a shit if a BAD story I write gets low votes. I do get seriously fucked off if one of my stories gets slammed because of a fucking competition! I've never fucked with a members scores before and I won't stoop that low now but I'd love... just for a minute... to get hold of the prick that organised this.

Can you tell I'm fucked off?

Yes, we can tell. Perhaps you should ask yourself the questions I always do when I see low numbers of votes/readers. Do you think your stories are good? Have you received feedback saying they're good? If the answer to both questions is yes, does anything else really matter?

Yes, it's galling alright -- the first 2 or 3 times. After that you start appreciating feedback and public comments more -- where people have to make an effort beyond clicking a button, and so I think that's a better measure of what people think of your story than vote score. Also, number of reads per day is also a pretty good indicator of how many people are jerking off to your story.

I write because I enjoy writing. But then there are the realities of life.

I'm a psychological shut in. I'm suffering from a form of social phobia which means that I am terrified of being around people. Because of that I can't work and am on a sickness benefit. That pays $263 per week out of which I have to pay my rent, bills and food. Any chance I get to earn a bit more money gets me turning triple back flips. When some fuckwad screws with that chance I tend to get a little on the rabid side. Two votes of '1' fucked me up. Should I count my blessings?

Achtung I know I can write. I've won a few comps and had mountains of positive feedback. In answer to your final question... at the moment yes. $150 US does matter. It's the difference between being able to feed myself and my daughter well and eating crap food for dinner and rationing milk.

The point is... you got teed off.

Trolls loves that.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Ok, KW, sorry. I didn't know money was the big problem here. It's not a problem for me right now but I'd be lying if I said it never has been in the past. I understand, man. Best of luck. Wish I knew better how to help you with your issue.

Kiwi, don't sweat it. Lit sweeps troll votes before they decide who the monthly winners are.

The big problem these days is Lit is waaaay behind announcing monthly winners. February was the latest batch they announced. About a week ago.

And I'm in the same boat, on a disability. They're might generous people our governments, aren't they?

I think that even in the best case, the prize money you could get from Literotica ought to be seen more as a windfall than an income stream.

kiwi, if they were truly 1's, they'll be swept... don't sweat it... Laurel comes and sweeps all the nasty one's away before she assesses who won the contests (holiday or monthly)...

I hope you win... good luck...! :cathappy:

I'd like to apologise for the way I stormed in here and ranted and raved. I behaved like an asshole and this thread would have been more suited to the general board if anywhere.

A good friend of mine died this week and I'm a bit screwed up about it... still that is no excuse. Please accept my thanks and my apologies.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I love trolls... in a white wine and garlic sauce.

Taste like chicken?

Ranting is fine. That's what you should be able to do with your friends.

Good luck in the contest. Laurel will help. And others, too.

Thank you sarahh. If I wasn't so broke I wouldn't care so much but never mind.

If you add some fresh basil to your troll recipe it goes well with a nice Barollo. Chianti is just too damned harsh for troll.

You've moved back up to 20th position, with a score of 4.94 after 63 votes.
I wouldn't be unhappy with those figures.

Good luck.

Hey, mat, how do you know how many votes he has? I've never been able to see that info on anyone's stuff but my own.

Kiwi, I'd say you have a right to rant. Everyone here in the AH has seen me do it on several occasions and for less reason than you.

If you are really writing for the cash, maybe you should be submitting your stories to places that actually pay for them. Just a thought!......Carney

*hugs* kiwi. I know what it's like to be on the thin end of income, it's not fun at all!
