I have been posting stories for some years now and have had the odd Moderator rejection but can someone tell me what this is supposed to mean as a reason for rejection. The bits in the double square brackets are from my manuscript.

Dear Writer,

Thank you for your submission to Literotica. We appreciate the time and effort you've taken to write a story and submit it to our site . However, we've found that we cannot post your submission in its current form. The checklist below may help you in re-examining your manuscript.

[["I thought you would never ask. I'm feeling so turned on from seeing you two come like that that I could even contemplate fucking Ewan... "]]

We support your creative work, both on Lit and offsite on other projects. You are more than welcome to promote those projects in your bio and profile page. That said - out of respect for readers, we do not allow advertisements, promotions, or outside links or mentions of any kind within the description or text/body of submissions (including "see my profile for my other work/blog link/etc").

The most entetaining answer gets to proof-read my next work "Ford Mustang and an Amazon create baby Apple"

Yours in anticipation

LB

Was the bit in the double square brackets included in the notification? There certainly doesn't seem to be anything there that could be described as promotional.

Did the rejection notice specifically flag that bit of text?

How did you submit the story? If it was a .doc or a .docx I'd be checking for hidden links.

The double brackets were in the notification but not in my original manuscript which was a .docx

yes, the text is mine but the double brackets were added in the notification
That's odd. Try cutting and pasting your content into the submission text box and Preview. That should show up any oddball features in the text. If you can't find anything to get rid of, resubmit with a Note to the Editor that your story doesn't contain links, doesn't cross promote.

I reckon you've somehow triggered a text bot.

We don't seem to be getting the full story with what you've posted. In any case, the discussion to be had is directly with the sole submissions editor, Laurel. You can reach her through the PM (Private Message) system. Upper right on this page if you have PMs turned on. You can turn the PMs on via the User CP button upper left, if they aren't turned on now. PM seems the only way to reach her.

Odd because I have never seen or heard of Laurel citing whatever line the issue stems from. Something is off here.

I feel your pain. The latest story I submitted was rejected twice for underage sex, even though there was literally nothing referring to that in the story. Then it was posted in the wrong category because it mentioned incest. No incest actually happened, it was just mentioned.

I wish you better luck getting your issues fixed than I have had.

It has happened recently to a writer I was editing for. Her story got pinged for underage content. After a couple of resubmissions of clearing the obvious (slap head d'oh moment) and the less clear (I guess this is possibly an issue), she received a PM from Laurel with the line that needed to be amended (Well, ok. I can't see it, but you're the boss.)

Leaving the quoted passage aside, is there anything in your submission that references stories on other sides, or other sites that host stories of this kind?

That line might/will be the line that has a link associated with it. You can't put links in your stories to other sites. How it got there is another question. Copy and Paste is your friend... copy the text and that surrounding it into notepad or some other text editor and see what shows up.

Or paste it into your browser might be a better idea to find that hidden link.
