What Stories do you like that don't end in orgasm?

Are there any stories on here that don't end with everyone, or some people, cumming? I want to try writing a few that end differently and I'm wondering what people would think.

They're erotic, sexual, but without orgasm. Do you have any stories you like that don't involve that?

Well, I suppose all of my submissions technically qualify. While they all contain sexual situations and, at times, graphic sex, none of the final scenes end in orgasm. I like to write romantic stories, however, where that ending style is more normal.

There's a bit of ambiguity in your question for me, davion. Are you talking about a story that never provides a full-out sex scene, just develops sexual tension then quietly shuts the bedroom door and lets the reader decide how it ended? These are teaser-type stories, a genre of their own, and there are a couple of folks here who are well-known for them. I just can't think of the names because I haven't had any coffee yet.

Or are you talking about stories that don't rely on sex exclusively to resolve the story, i.e., stories with a plot that's independent of sex?

Just trying to get a handle on your question.

You may find those types of stories in the BDSM genre too, though more along the lines of a character's orgasm being intentionally denied. There was a teaser author who was fairly successful here but the name just won't seem to come back. Asian fella. Something like "Yoshi" or "Yumi." I just can't remember.

In the meantime, if you want my opinion on your idea as someone who's been reading and writing here for a bit, I'm not so sure your story idea is going to get mass appeal. My sense is that an orgasm provides the climax (double entendre stumbled upon, I swear ) that the average smut reader is looking for to achieve his/her... satisfaction.

It really depends on whether mass appeal matters to you. If you want mass appeal, the incest genre still appears to be king here in terms of readership. If you're writing for your own enjoyment and the no-orgasm thingie is your particular kink, I say start typing and see where it takes you.

I also don't think this is the right forum for your question(s) either way. The Story Discussion Circle is geared more towards talking about writing; the SDC is a fairly high-brow audience. Personally I'd say a story which doesn't contain any orgasms is probably not appropriate for an erotica archive. Just because a writer has posted several stories to an archive and built up fans there, that does not mean they should post all their writing there if the writing really isn't on topic.

there are some good comments above, and my own are unofficial and just private opinion.

i see nothing wrong if you can create an erotic story NOT culminating in orgasm. as paco said some in the SM genre might fit.

i can think of other possibilities, such as the O's are not emphasized and happen off screen. the story would focus on a fellow's 'dates' with a cock teaser, over a period of time. in between, w/o detail the reader would gather he jerks off.

also i can picture a 'first time' story, but from the woman's POV. and she just doesn't come.

a story requires tension, and an erotic story has tension that's eros related. the story's tension, however, need not parallel the sexual tension, however. for example a story of a rapist who's ultimately captured. it could even be told from his POV. and let's say his does 'come'. but the focus of the story is on his guilt, his efforts to evade arrest, and his mind becoming unhinged a bit (sort of like Crime and Punishment). perhaps it could be argued that is not an erotic story; but that's pointless; it's of course NOT a simple run of the mill whack off story.

I've come across several stories that have multi-chapters and focus strongly on an actual plot. Those tend to read like an actual novel.

I don't think I've read any where no one gets off, though. I guess most writers (and readers) figure that to be the norm with erotica.

I doubt if there are many real stories that end in orgasm. The plotline of a real story almost always extends beyond the culmination of a sex scene.

I've written and published two, The Poem, and The Recorders. No orgasms, but I claim they are erotic. Maybe they're not great literature, but they fit the bill. And yes, this thread belongs on Story Ideas.

I really can't think of a good erotic novel that doesn't eventually deliver the resolution of the sexual tension. After all, as pointed out before, any story needs conflict/resolution and ideally character's transformation for better or for worse. I personally would feel ripped off if I didn't get to a literal and figurative climax.

Perhaps you could get away with it in a romance novel, but sooner or later you want that bodice ripped. Otherwise Fabio would have some blue balls, and that just ain't pretty.

any story where the author is talented enough and has developed his characters/plot enough that it really isn't necessary. of course I dont mind reading about mind-blowing orgasms , but it takes a rare & talented author to be able to pull off a successful story with just foreplay(I'm assuming that's allowed?) as the main course & dessert rolled into one

I have wondered about this too. In real life sex can definitely be fullfilling without orgasm (not always, but it's possible) but how to end a story if it's not with orgasm? Hard to give a powerful finite ending without that climactic moment.

A Sugestion

I personally like a change from the ending with orgasm stories too. One of my favorites is Falling Into Darkness by Elianna. While there are some orgasms, not all of the chapters end with one (or more). It is 18 chapters long and has a sequel that is incomplete. So far this sequel has only 6 chapters. They are both categorized as nonhuman.
