Got a burned cd stacked with Leadbelly yesterday from a friend. Unfortunately not with any song titles.

I've been on a Cake and Reverend Horton Heat binge the past few days. It's Lucky's fault. She mentioned They Might Be Giants, but I don't have any of theirs anymore. So I'm listening to the rest of my hyper, nonsensical music until the CDs arrive. :D

edited because I can't spell this morning...

Well apparently Kurt Cobain killed himself ten years ago today, so my normal alternative radio station of choice is doing a massive montage to him. Lots of Nirvana and some other stuff they had tooled around with before he died.

Gonna need some of The Darkness to get rid of this doom and gloom before long. And they make me nuts sometimes.

Otherwise, Melissa Etheridge has a new c.d. out called LUCKY, of all things :D. I like it. Hoobastank's new c.d. is great. And I dug into my c.d.'s like Mindy said and did a serious rock-out to ISTANBUL (not constantinople). :D

Music and me...we're tight, while being all over the place at the same time.

Lately I have been listening to anything Beyonce --

Vanessa Williams - when I am sad

Mariah Carey - when I want to hit those high notes

Van Halen - soon because it's becoming summer and I always listen to Van Halen in the summer

I sing and dance in the car when I am driving so any Top Ten when I want to get home really fast --

Me? I don't tend to listen to much music anymore. I'm usually too busy playing it.

What's your speed? Your av reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn...I think it's the hair. :D I love music and appreciate all kinds. Smells like teen spirit, came out when I was in high school and it was quite the push for Alternative. I love alternative rock, but grew up on Classic Rock and have a huge love and appreciation for it as well. Just wondering what your vices were where music is concerned.

*grins*..

I'm a jaded old 80s rock 'n roller, so when alternative came out, I had an instinctive knee-jerk reaction against it. Took me a while to even like someone like Pearl Jam.

That said, I did my fair share of moshing and slam-dancing to Nirvana in the early 90s. I like to joke about Kurt Cobain because I place him in the same category as the bucketheads from Oasis, about as much musical ability as a concrete brick.

What do I like? Tuneful melodies and good lyrics, mostly.

Dire Straits, for Mark Knopfler's astonishing guitar playing, musicianship and lyrical technique.

Clint Black for his jazz-influenced musical ability and versatile voice.

Aerosmith, for simply being the best rock 'n roll back in the world.

Crowded House for Neil Finn's lyrics which are a true exercise in simplicity and their accurate and original harmony work.

The Spice Girls, because they never pretended to be something they weren't. Truly unpretentious and just plain fun.

Stevie Ray Vaughn.. Har, yes - The best blues guitarist that ever lived. If Mark Knopfler is my inspiration, SRV is my hero.

Alabama for being the Aerosmith of country music and for managing to sound down-home and polished at the same time.

Queen, because unlike Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury actually is a man for whom musicians should mourn.

Bon Jovi, for doing for Rock 'n Roll what Debbie Gibson did for Pop music.

Rush, because nobody, not even Mark Knopfler, writes lyrics like Neil Peart.

Err.. I could go on, but I'm probably beginning to bore you :)

p.s. I forgot one imporant one:

The Eagles, because no one outside of the Beach Boys has done four-part harmony that good.

Hooray Dest, Peggy Lee's Black Coffee, fabulous!!!!! She's one of my favs.
I love Sarah Vaughn, Etta James, Of course Aretha, Seal, Dana Glover, the Cure and 80's mixes. Sometimes various Hindi mixes or Puccini.

Different sounds for different moods.

Very good, Joe.

Aside from Dest's and Renza Ma's choices I don't know any of the songs or groups listed here, or merely their names. Haven't been into any pop music since sometime in the mid-seveties I think. Won't bore anyone with my choices.

hey I want to know :D

My radio's is busted, my record player is in storage and I'm too poor to buy a CD player or iPod or anything cool like that.

Luckily I have a mind that plays music to keep itself amused when nothing else is going on.

Today's songs:

"Wonderful World" Louis Armstrong
"Time in a Bottle" Jim Croce
"Operator (That's Not The Way It Feels)" Jim Croce
"If You Could Read My Mind" Gordon Lightfoot
"Asbury Park - 4th of July (Sandy)" Bruce Springsteen
"Eine Kleine Nachtmüsick" Wolfgang Amadeaus Mozart

And when I'm walking: "Panzer Lied"
