Outside of careerbuilder, MonsterJobs, Craigslist and a news paper, what else do you use, or is there anything else? I will be moving in about 8 weeks so that I can return to school to either obtain my Maters or get my RN and looking to find a job.

Use headhunters - the more you get people working for you the better.

How about your school's or department's career center? Employers often contact career centers and specific department/program heads, instructors and administrators about openings.

Have you looked on city, county and state employment websites? Government jobs like that often have excellent benefits and pay.

Does your county and/or state have an employment service and website where they help people with getting jobs and employers can post openings (like this)? If so, that might be an avenue to check out; a lot of employers here post jobs there and use their matching services to find candidates because it's completely free, unlike the big sites.

Other than that, there are LOTS of region- and field- specific sites out there. Do some googling, like 'job listings your_city' and 'jobs health care your_state'.

I agree with Cate that headhunters can be great, but you also have to be very, very careful, as there are lots of unscrupulous and unfair ones out there. Be sure to verify how they're being paid (e.g. some are paid a one-time fee by the employer only, whereas others will take a [fairly big] chunk of placed employees' salaries, and some double-dip) and run if they ask for any money from you for placement, looking, editing/creating your resume, etc.

Good luck!

What kind of jobs are you looking for? If you mean, like, hand jobs, or blow jobs, I hear that Craigslist is pretty good.

If you mean something where you actually gotta do some work, sorry, can't help you.

You might be best off to look for the city you're moving to's newspaper or just in general, their website and see what job listings you might find there. Most of the better jobs are found by word of mouth in my opinion... both jobs I've worked I got one from someone saying 'hey, this person's looking for, you should apply...' and the other I got quite accidentally.

I searched for a job once by going to the mall's webpage and searching through there, they had listings neatly tucked away. If you're moving to a larger place, I'd suggest searching things like malls in the area to see if they have a webpage, as these will give more direct opportunies. States and provinces often have employment pages of their own on the internet. And, of course, larger businesses.

If you are looking for an engineering job or an IT job one of the better sites is DICE.com. You can also put your resume up on DICE.com, Beyond. com or Therecruiternetwork.com

my job is as an engineering & technologies recruiter and we use these sites to find candidates for our clients..

What kind of field? I like to find out what big companies are in the area and start applying directly through their websites. You can also try temp agencies, lots of them usually have full time positions as well as temp positions.

If you are looking for something part-time while in school you can check out NARMS.com for merchandising type jobs. Those are usually very flexible.

Good luck!

i think mrscali's question is exceedingly important, powerlifter: for some fields, certain sites will be vastly more helpful than others. i got my current job through careerbuilder, actually.
