What should we do about AI?

Oh I know there's no stopping it at this point. But I do believe it has the high potential to wreak havoc on the human race and the world with irreversible, unimaginable devastation. To what extent and what it will look like, I'm not sure but I don't want to see how that will all happen when it does. I hate that my kids will be growing up in the midst of it
It’s not AI that will wreak the destruction, but the tech bros who are backing it. The best way to stop them is to hasten the pop of the AI bubble.

Explore each and every corner of its sexual potential (horse-hung cyborgs, customizable-breast options, Wet Dream Machines), and then leave it abandoned on the side of the road with a note on the windshield saying “sry busted.”

They don’t have me working on National Defense I’ll never know…
That's one of those things that inevitably WILL happen, but it won't have much bearing on technological unemployment, except that of prostitutes and exotic dancers.

And porn stars -- they're in as much danger as mainstream actors of being replaced by AI.

Oh well shit I didn’t know he wanted to come along. I spent it all before I got there anyway. Gourmet Donkey Show. Great seats.

Nope.

You Deplorables have zero issue with government controlling people's lives as long as it's your preferred version of it.

You mean stopping the fraud and criminality you and yours are all about??

Yea.....that's the whole fucking point of having a government.

If they won't at least stop you, then we don't have any use for them.
This has been proven in no uncertain terms.

:)

The only thing that has been proven here is that you're triggered by someone not worshiping your PRESCIOUS government.

That is, how to deal with the threat of technological unemployment it poses?

I see no way but Universal Basic Income.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_basic_income
There will be an issue very soon with households that are trying to live on reduced incomes. The promise of a comfortable upper middle-class life was the lure for many Americans getting into computer science and engineering. I will share an inside secret. Not everyone in this field is Bill Gates or Linus Torvalds. But even the lower tier software developers were useful for certain tasks and still allowed them a good living. It is those lower tier employees and entry-level workers most affected. The only way a software developer becomes experienced and high performing is to have the opportunity with an entry-level position. A four year degree in STEM is not a constant keg party. It is hard work. Now they are rewarded with reduced job opportunities. A horse and carriage operator can adapt to an automobile much easier than a software developer can adapt to roofing. But whatever they change to will not pay the salary a software developer is used to.

...and proven yet again by your response above.

Thanks for playing. 🙂

What you're talking about here is tech bros as a potential political faction -- but what politics those have is traditionally Libertarian -- would they get behind UBI even if they could see it as solving problems?

No need, not anymore than we needed to do something about the "threat" of the automobile's invention and all the unemployment that caused.

The only thing "needed" is to take the governemnt boot off the peoples throat.
Agreed. Go tell that to the felonious grifting pedophile asshole with his boot on the throat of the people.

The problem with UBI is if everyone has that income the cost of basic goods and services people need will go up by exactly the same amount. Supply and demand.

I have no idea why any government would favor UBI over supporting educated and trained citizens working good paying jobs. And not allowing AI to destroy the industry that drove job growth and socio-economic upward mobility for the past 5 decades.

No, it can be done while maintaining a constant money supply. It's a matter of DISTRIBUTION.

Because that's capitalist oppression.

With socialism everyone gets to just order door dash and jerk off on the internet 24/7....why wouldn't you want that??

That's a far right Nazi hell. We can't just allow people to be PRODUCTIVE and USEFUL!!! That creates inequity and makes degenerate leftist look bad. Can't have that comrade....
