Besides sex...

I found myself on edge today after watching too much CNN and suddenly...

There was a lasagna made... with garlic cheese bread...a very nice salad with all the fresh vegetables in it.....and I was halfway into a double batch of brownies before I even realized what I had done.

Stress-cooking, my relaxant of choice.

What's yours?

I like working on the heavy bag.

Nothing like pounding the crap out a canvas bag to get out all the tension.

a nice hot shower with my favorite soap....

and driving in my car with the music cranked...singing at the top of my lungs...

btw...I am now hungry cleo.....sigh.....

My godchild.
Chess.
A nice glass of Aniversario rum.
Laughter among friends.
A hug from a close friend.

Thanks Blindinthedark, that's an excellent idea. I have one sitting around in the basement collecting dust. Maybe I should get out the hand wraps.

A hot bubble bath with scented candles lit all around. I like putting aromatherepy oils in the water and having soft music playing too.

That always calms my nerves.

Jaw-stretching exercises. I had TMJ (whatever that is) once, and a massage therapist suggested stretching my tongue to the roof of my mouth, then moving it backward, while I was jutting my jaw outward.
It actually doesn't do anything to relieve stress, but the people around you think it's makes you look funnier than hell.

Laughs - sorry - that wasn't the intended result! And I sing really loud in the car too, but I just can't go for drives whenever I want anymore. Thanks Tatiana.

All good things, Black_Bird. When I play with my little one and he squeals in delight, that's the best sound in the world. However, chess seems to stress me out more, as I'm not good enough at it to be confidant in my moves.

That sounds lovely, StrawberryPez. And I almost remember it. I'll need a few more years and a much bigger bathtub before I can really enjoy that again!

Being completely by myself is a good way for me. Usually a walk in the woods......since well, I live in the woods....lol.

So you relieve *other's* stress? What a giver! Thanks Ham!

That sounds great too, Spider_Guy. Thanks. When I was younger, my parents lived next to woods, and I'd spend hours in them just walking.... *sigh*

Relaxation = Weed + Bob Ross on the tube...

Excellent! Thanks nitelite.

Except 1) I'm probably the only person in here that's never smoked weed, and

2) Thinking about Bob Ross always makes me hear him say in that soft, whispery, creepy voice - "happy little trees" and "happy little streams".

This winter I went walking in the woods. Just for pictures actually. I'd post some but it would be a crime to shrink them. They came out really good.

Strength training. Working out with weights totally relaxes me.

Thanks fond. I find it just tires me out. Or maybe that's the same thing!

Kicking the crap out of the Warcraft 3 CPU, even though I suck against real people.

Thanks Star. I used to like to play Onimusha and kill the things spectacularily. Something about slicing a huge monster in half and then stabbing the remains did tend to relieve tension.

I'm not very good at it either. I think it relaxes me because it gives me something other then the day to day to concentrate on; it's an escape of sorts.
