You can't be progressive and liberal because progressivism, as the average lefty Democrat uses the term (federal governments pursuit of social and economic equity) doesn't happen without it. That's why you guys want to ram everything down all 50 states throats at the federal level instead of doing it in your states and leaving Montana, Texas, Alaska etc. the fuck alone. The very notion of allowing red states to run their own states gets you guys downright upset and hostile.

A real liberal would work on getting HC done in CA, NY where people want "progressive" politics and doing such a sweet tits fuckin' job at it that all or most of the other states join in on the action. NOT force feed it to half the country promising to start a fuckin' war over your trying to force the issue.

You can't detest liberty or openly support forcing your politics on so many who want nothing to do with it and call yourself a liberal without being laughed at by those who know what liberalism is actually about.

And that's just wrong. Left=/= liberal....the article goes on to explain why.

It is, it's a US friendly term for "democratic socialism" or "Fabianism" and has absolutely nothing more to do with being "progressive" than it did when they were erroneously calling themselves "liberals".

Though considerably more honest. If you ask them what they are "progressing" towards...then they start getting all shifty and start bullshitting around the federal governments pursuit of social and economic equity.

Both the Conservative party and the Labour party in the UK describe themselves as 'progressive'.

It has a different meaning in British English.
