Just got back from another soccer game. I asked my sibling a few questions, but got no new info, & (in some cases) wasn't even told if she knew anything she might be able to add to what I knew.

Also, tried to help my father jokingly, & he shot me a look & responded with a "Wasn't asking you"... This after I took a long, not-planned-prior road trip with him Sunday wherein he complained multiple different ways about his dating problems & had one of his innumerable occasions where he can't recall how old I am.

I'm a non-partisan bystander - all I do know is that it takes a certain type of person to want to nurse people who are sick and in pain, and it takes another type of person to study for years to take the responsibility of someone's potential life or death on a daily basis. These people who have to look into someone's eyes and tell them that their child has died. Or that they have terminal cancer.

I don't have what it takes to do that. The vast majority of us don't have what it takes either. Thank God there are those who do. Whatever they get paid, it's not enough. And we all know the government can afford it - how much was it we were going to invest in the health service post-Brexit??

E.g I think it was 2013, when in just the first few months of the year the NHS as a whole had spent more money than they had in the entirety of 2012. The main reason behind that being that the NHS isn't exactly a planned system, it sort of just grew exponentially in little bits since its inception and never had a huge overhaul to streamline it.

Since it still has that budget problem the government is very reluctant to throw even more money at it in wages because they fear it may become unsustainably costly. Wages are after all usually the biggest cost to any organization. And to add onto all that, I've heard (uncertain of the validity) that public services across the board will have budget cuts in the wake of Brexit to keep them sustainable, albeit less effective, if and when the money supply gets tighter.

So yea, what a mess everything is right now.

Unfortunately, with all public services, the information we are given can (and probably is) slanted to suit the purposes of whoever happens to be giving it.

My own personal experience is this, as a supplier to a couple of NHS trusts.....

Along with all the other suppliers we have been on a zero inflation policy since 2011, so that if we attempt to increase our prices however slightly, we lose the business. And my industry is competitive, so yes, there will always be someone who can do it cheaper.

In 2013 I was called in to a meeting to tell me I had to cut my prices by 20% to continue to receive orders - apparently they'd had a directive to cut costs by that amount during the financial year.

So I find it strange when I read about how their expenditure rocketed during the same period. The supplies departments have been under extreme, and I mean 'cut costs or lose your job' extreme, pressure for years. Doesn't add up, does it?

But my point was more general really. We seem to be able to find funds for certain government initiatives that I don't agree with personally, so I always find it strange when they kick and scream about the NHS. But that's politicians for you.

Of those polled:
24% from other countries.
20% friends and relatives.
12% conserving their previous prescriptions.
And 4% voluntarily stated another option which wasn't being looked for...they take antibiotics prescribed to animals because they're cheaper.

Oh dear Vishnu, what on Earth.
In supposedly the richest country on Earth that can dish out tens of trillions of dollars every year in unnecessary wars and a thousand overseas military bases and 'pork-barrel' projects and gift cheques to Exxon Mobil, there are people on animal meds because they can't afford proper antibiotics.

Euuuughhhh that's just so disheartening.

I don't now what plan you have but there are ways to block numbers. If things get worse document everything and get legal help if this person decides to become "local." I hope you get some peace.
