I don't know so much about cosplay, but that I like costumes and clothes.

Could it work this way - You say what you are inspired by and then make the costume suit YOU? There are some wonderfully creative people here who might help with ideas ? Is there a theme, a type of costume, even colours that are very master's delight-ing?

Yeah. The only issue I have with making costumes suit me is that most female characters are... Scantily clothed. The alterations would be so severe in the interest of modesty it'd be difficult to maintain the integrity of the cosplay. If that makes sense? I found some really amazing Ursula cosplays (the sea witch from the little mermaid). Donna from Doctor Who is another one I could pull off. I'm teasing the idea of something with a little more creative license (dalek or tardis).

(pardon my French but..) Kink functions are so different. I can parade around naked at a play party knowing full well what I look like and not have to worry that someone is disgusted. I'm protected by my Master and by the fact that my body type is just as accepted as every other body type under the sun. Vanilla functions...(especially cons in my experience) shame one another in their looks, their clothes, their body types. And at events where others judge you based on how you look. * sigh* and the added issue of being female and having to prove that you're actually a fan of something and not just cosplaying something based off the character look. It's all very misogynistic, especially in the gaming genre. *sigh* IF I even get to go next year, it's not guaranteed.

I did cosplay when I was younger. I wasn't very good at it and my first costume was a rather... Sexy costume. Anyway, despite it not being finished, I wore it and you could tell which character I was supposed to be. I was young, not overweight and still got some mean comments on one of the cosplay sites it was posted on. Not a site run by me, but someone that attended cons and took pictures and posted them with permission. People in general are pretty mean. It's a bit of a learning experience though. I was never one to have the confidence for that sort of thing anyway.

I find "cosplay" is an ironic term for the act... The only reason to do it is because you can't find a reason to be yourself. (I went to a convention years ago where Adam West & a few Catwoman portrayers & the late "Batgirl" were going to be appearing all of the days... Not a one person showed up dressed as them or their characters.)

It costs $0 & takes little-if-any work to show up (to work, or anywhere else) as yourself, & he majority of us are not likely to find anyone else trying to be us.

Do you go as yourself on Halloween? No difference in cosplay. It's all about being fun and the artistry of it. Not to mention it's a way to show who your fav characters are. I think you may be over thinking it.

I don't go anywhere as anyone on Halloween (or I go as myself, & simply refer to it as whatever day of the week it is). It's not about being fun, & artistry makes no difference (any more than it does to wear jeans that you're aware are too big, etc.).

I've done ren faire years and even as a size 16 with smaller boobs, nothing grabs attention the way my Italian courtesan dress does. Think like the pic but in teal/silver. I get hit on left and right, especially at Vegas Faire (finally took telling guys they were the wrong gender to get word about I wasn't actually a whore, just played one). That combination of corset, Venetian pants, fluffed skirt and a secretive smile was all it took.

I'd love to see someone do another Duchess of Milan from Trinity Blood. Many of the female characters from SAO are actually dressed (Sinon aside). Knights of Sildonia costumes aren't tiny-only either. Aijien (Netflix series that I probably misspelled) has a pretty bad-ass female that wears a nice pants suit and whoops butt in dainty heels. Assuming you were talking about anime cosplay.

Sci-fi- in the right material, the Star Trek counselor uniforms can be flattering even on large forms. Haley or Inara from Firefly could be done, the later with a ball gown, hair, makeup and the right attitude.

Cosplay who makes YOU happy. If people like it, cool, you've made someone smile. If people don't, tell 'em you're happy and their upset- who's winning there? Or tell them to fuck off, depending on your personality (I vary between the two myself).

It wasn't "just mean", & I'm hesitant to say it wasn't mean.

No, it's not my nitch... Well, can't confirm that honestly, as I have no clue what that word/term means (maybe it's in the Urban Dictionary).

Why all the negativity? No reason for no negativity. However, a few New Year's-es ago, I made a silent resolution to start being "brutally honest" with people. So many people tell you they want you to be honest (starting with parents teaching it) but they really don't. I improvised the phrase, but I then decided it's perfect, as (literally) half of it's "brutal" & half of it's "honest".

Doctor Who cosplay is pretty versatile. Have you considered a Weeping Angel? It doesn't have to be so in depth that you do a full mask, but it seems easy enough without being too exposing and offers really great photo opportunities. When I've seen people doing the cosplay it's a big hit and people just love it.

"Couldn't agree with you" less. It seems to me many women individually or in clique-like groups hold themselves to more standards & tougher standards than any men/media & such groups do.

As a single, straight guy, it doesn't bother me at all that I don't get approached by women, as I can basically guarantee I would assume something about that person based on what some other person (real or fictional) has done or said, & be wrong.

Similarly, not all men (let alone of a certain age or race) are alike. Same is (IMO) problem with groups calling selves things like "Black Lives Matter"...

Saw message-thing today during "Dr. Phil" where he himself was discussing issues between average people & police, & claiming those represent the vast minority & most cops are nice & literally putting lives on the line every day "to serve & protect" us... My immediate response out loud (albeit only to self)? That he was similarly generalizing unfairly & perhaps incorrectly, & assuming as he said would likely get at least 1 person injured if not killed...

Thought I had during recent Convention times: It seems to be sure who candidates will be from Dems & GOP now, but is it too late for government currently in office to rename the area they will be President of? Last I knew, not all "States" (MA a "commonwealth", for one), & not a single one of them is "United" amongst itself, let alone with the others.
