Night is when I do most of my writing. And I just chug along on that. Little surprises me anymore on what happens in the world. Yellowtail Shiraz helps three times a week, though (I ration--coffee four days; wine three days).

There are several over the counter things out there that might work.
Yes do know what you mean, try 3 to 4 hours a night for 40 years. Wish the mind would just shut down at 11 pm but it doesn't.

Basically my story too, though in my case I do a consistent 12 beers every other day. Wipes out half of two days. Not like anything is going on.

In all seriousness, PTSD isn't just something that happens after combat. There are ways to deal with it that don't lead to self destruction or a crisis center.

Look at it this way - your doctor is drinking twice that amount and holds down a job. If drink gets you through a bad patch, that's fine, but when things get better, which they will, be sure to recognise it and you won't need to self-medicate.
