In the interests of furthering diplomatic relations, I present to you, the good people of this board a positive post.

I have this small garage.
And I have had it soundproofed.
So that perhaps once a week, myself and a select few can get together and have a proper get-together.

I provide the venue, the beverages and the select few provide the other essentials for a proper night of partying.

As I am called upon to be DJ quite often, I have compiled a list of tracks that I like to play.
Please note that I do not play them as the pros do, with respect to BPM, genre, or artist. I just play what everyone feels like hearing at the time.

So my question for you is when you have a party yourself, are there any certain songs or bands that you
always like to hear?

This is my track listing, in no certain order.

I usually like to start out with a spoken word piece by William S. Burroughs titled Just say no to Drug Hysteria.

1. Whitney Houston: It's not right but it's ok (Thunderpuss 2000 club mix)

2. Whitney Houston: I learned from the best (HQ2 club mix)

3. Shannon: Give me tonight (Hex Hector 2000 A.D remix)

4. Moby: BodyRock

5. Moby: Move (Disco Threat mix)

6. Moby: South Side (Single version)

7. Bob Marley: Sun is shining (ATB remix)

8. Praxis: Turn me out (turn to sugar) (Speed Garage mix)

9. Dirty Vegas: Days go by

10. Arling and Cameron: Let's get Higher (Malibu remix)

11. New Order: Crystal (Creamer K Main mix)

12. Porn Kings: Up to no good (original mix)

13. Sarah Brightman: A Whiter Shade of Pale (Paralyzer remix)

14. FatBoy Slim: Star 69 (what the fuck?) (original mix)

15. Adrenaline: Shut the Fuck Up and Dance (Richard "Humpty" Vission Anthem mix)

16. New Order: Blue Monday (Hardfloor mix)

17. The ScumFrog: Learning to Fly (Rhythm Masters mix)

18. Jamiroquai: Canned Heat (LP version)

19. Kevin Aviance Vs. Victor Vs. Tribalists: Alive (Victor Vs. Tribalists mix)

20. Madonna: Don't Tell Me (Tracy Young Club mix)

Just a few, I have many, many more.

It totally depends on the mood. My mood, the weather...plus, I like what I like.

So, it's sort of complicated in a simple way.

Lemme think of exact examples in a minute.

Its that group.... you know.... dammmm.... I'm always so drunk I can never remember. :p

I like the mix except for the Whitney. I listen to a bunch of different stuff right now, still I love that Patti Smith and sometimes Coil.

fun, heavy, rhythmic metal & industrial metal

anything loud & with a good beat

I like the heavy, almost-thrash, hard-hard rock.

Groups like P.O.D., Puddle of Mudd, Fuel.

I also like the original rockers.

Ozzy, Metallica, Rush.

Just for fun I throw in some lighter material.

Eminem, Weird Al, that "Party Hard" song.

Well... the Whitney tracks are remixes of course, done in a excellent Hard House style that I love.

Patty Smith is very cool.
Coil is excellent as well.
If you like Coil, have you ever heard anything by Aphex Twin?

Anything dancable.

under the right conditions, it doesn't even have to be that good.

Good people
Good times
Good surroundings

makes for a good party for me.

60s/70s rock, mixed in with some newer Santana, Enigma, Sophie B. Hawkins, Dead Can Dance, Melissa Ethridge and Indigo Girls. Sound track to The Big Chill is always a hit too.

oh yes, I do like a bit of metal these days.

Drowning Pool, that excellent song "Bodies" (let the bodies hit the floor!)

Disturbed, I like just about everything from them, like "voices" especially.

As far as industrial metal...Ministry rocks, older KMFDM was good..I like the new stuff too.
Fear Factory.

Tool.
No matter what I am doing I listen to Tool....Perfect Circle and System of a Down are up there also.

Dead Milkmen
Ministry
Violent femmes
Sex pistols
Talking heads
New Order
English Beat

The list goes on and on

I look forward to reading your examples, my dear.

Trust me when I tell you that you don't.

I'm rather stuck in...an era of folk, rock, punk and God knows what else but certainly nothing new.

I get stuck in my ways, I guess.
