What kind of fantasy character would you be?

If you could write yourself into a fantasy world, and by this I mean a non-earth, high fantasy world such as Middle-Earth, The Land, Xanth, etc. (or one of your own creation), what character would you be?

Me, I'd want to be a sorcerer-wizard type, though I admit I would love to have the barbarian physique... maybe the "unlikely wizard", like a barbarian-shaman... hmmmm....

Ranger, definitely a ranger, you meet far more elf girls in the woods than in musty old towers. Plus, you get to wear leather pants and no one points and laughs.

I would be the honorable clever warrior with thief skills. Someone like Silk from David Eddings' Belgariad and Malloreon series.

I'd be the big brute who bash in heads for a living and paints lilies on miniature glass vases and recites high poetry on his spare time.

I'd SO be a wizard! Imagine to be able to just wave a wand and get whatever you wish for! Money, clothes, food, love... :)

I'd be the wizard.

I'd model myself after Pyre of Ice. Sneaky, subtle bastard he was.

A hobbit.

They eat 6 meals a day, drink a lot, have parties at every opportunity... and they have awesome drinking songs. What's not to love?

You people and your need for power. Give me food!

Me? The smart but not-so-pretty woman who is right most of the time, and remembers where everything is, or where to look it up or who to talk to. And who can use a knife when needed. No one ever suspects by looking at her that's she's useful, because they are always staring at the chainmail bikini types or the scary sorceresses.

If I were to pick a character type from the Belgariad, either a "witch" (the spirit summoners) or a sorcerer (the reality shapers).

I'd likely be a paladin with anger issues.
YOU WILL REPENTED OR YOU WILL MEET THE SWIFT BLADE OF GOD!

hmmmm....

(remind me never to get stuck in a fantasy novel party with Boota... paladins are also almost always zealots, even the purest of ones ... it is all part of the package)

Without a doubt, sorceror... ala David and Leigh Eddings. Build your will, envision what you want to do, and release the power with a word.

No incantations.
No gesturing.
No drawing strange symbols on the ground.
No carrying around pouches of bat guano, testicles of newt, etc.
Nigh unto godlike power.

Belgarath in paticutlar. Attitude, just a little lecherous, unscrupulous, and all powerful. Nice combination.

I'd want to be a (good) sorceress who looks like a princess. Hey, it's my fantasy and I'd like to have a body that makes people swoon than one that sends them screaming from the room.

Definitely the funny sidekick, whose only extraordinary gift is NOT to get tangles in her butt-length hair, even when it's worn loose in the forest.
ah, you're a wood elf then LOL doesn't quite see the world the way we do, never has a bad hair day, and has lots of skills that are "quite normal, everyone can do them" (if you're an elf)

A theif who could make herself disappear and never fails at what she goes after. I'd also like to wear some of that really cool leather stuff and have a black cloak with trillions of pockets.

No, I'm a troll, remember?

*shows you my bridge again*
ah, I thought we were going for something OTHER than ourselves. I'm not a powerful sorcerer with a barbarian's body, so no reason for you to be a troll!

Pretty much just yourself then ;)
or my wife.

(I'm assuming that 'pretty'=dumb blonde)

Are there sprites or faeries? I can't remember any in Tolkien, and I never read the others...

I'm actually more interested in what others would see me as...I know what role I see myself in...Elven Bard/Ranger
