What Kind of Chain Story?

Since I seem to be doing nothing today but sitting on my ass (damn scorpion), going over the two chain stories I'm involved with, I was wondering what kind of ideas for future chains people might be interested in.

Just a few ideas that have popped into my head:

Classic Western: Something like 'Silverado,' I'm thinking. Maybe centered around a house of ill repute

Superheroes: Tons of interesting ideas there. Maybe shed some light on why, exactly, the Invisible Girl married Mister Fantastic :p (No, not a celebrity chain; I just wanted to say that)

Murder Mystery: Might be tricky to pull off, but it could be interesting

A modern Romeo & Juliet erotic tragedy: Just without all the Olde English

I think the Western and the Murder Mystery would be very enjoyable. Murder Mystery could be tricky yes, but still doable. The author's are the ones that know who did it. Not the readers. ;) (Unless they lurked on the thread dedicated to the chain story) - That would be their fault though, not the writers. ;) :D

I've always liked westerns. There are a lot of elements that lend themselves nicely to an erotic story.

Yeah, lots of ideas there, huh? Make our own good guys and bad guys, come up with really interesting ways to have sex . . . ;)

I have too. One of my favorite stories was called Head Hunter. It was a story of a woman whose father was the local Sheriff. He was murdered and she was raped by the gang that did it. She then after coming to terms with what happened to her, set out to bring in the men that killed her father and raped her. She ended up either becoming a Sheriff herself, or a bounty hunter, I'm leaning toward bounty hunter.

There are a lot of elements in a Western story, from the house of ill repute, to the local law, corrupt ranchers, the building of the railway. . . Lots of places to go.

I'm not a big western fan, but the idea of writing from the POV of a "soiled dove" is oddly appealing. Perhaps I should honor one commitment at a time though? ;)

Very true. A western chain could revolve around something like the situation above . . . but not too close to it, of course.

Westerns are what I write best. I'd write for another chain if each story was independent of the rest.

I only started this thread as a forum for ideas. No commitments yet ;)

I figure, if people like an idea, then we can just start a new thread.

Why does that not surprise me?

The love of the land, the way of life, exploration, new beginnings....

True. The frustrating thing about that series; I read all the books up to what the author had written, it disappeared then... Never concluded unless it did so and I didn't know it. I've searched and searched for it, but come up empty handed; quite frustrating. She was a redhead too... I like redheaded heroines. :D

It's a great setting. I like the idea though of tying the chapters in together, it gives the reader a "town" type appeal. Everyone interacting in some way or another in my opinion makes for a more addictive story line and makes it more of a novelish type work instead of a single short story.

I did a series kind of similar to that called "Tainted Rose"... she ended up being rescued by the Sheriff (who had fallen in love with her) before she ever really got tainted though.

Of course she did. :)

The superheroes and the murder mystery appeal to me. I'd like to be a superhero who can travel through time but with limits. Maybe only five to thirty minutes forward or backward? I always love a good victorian house murder mystery, ala Agatha Christie, but with sex. I'll be done with my AH Fantasy soon, I promise.

Hmm, so a few interested in participating in a Western story chain, and two in a Superhero chain. Personally, I have to say that I'm starting to get a little curious about what ideas would be presented for a superhero chain story.

Time travel would be a good one, Magica. Reminds of a character in a comic book, long time ago, named Flashback. He could create copies of himself by pulling them from the future. Of course, then came the day that one of his 'future selves' was killed . . . .

Make that another vote for a superhero chain.

I am a big comic book/graphic novel fan and that is right where I live.

Of course I am woefully behind on my Agent 99/ Agent TK epic due to life in general...but I am still interested. :D

Western would be fun, I think. Please don't make all the indians drunk savages, or noble stoics, though, please. ;)

Yikes, don't leave me hanging... what happened to him?
