What is your most favorite thing

I have never lived anywhere that it snows. To see snow, I have to go and visit it.

Tobogganing. Definately.

So far just watching in wonder and hoping for more. My first experience of driving in the snow was in the worst snow storm they had in 20 years and I was alone, no mobile phone, not sure of the way, and had to pick him up from where he was working. What should have been a 40 minute drive took a couple of hours due to low visibility and tons of accidents (not me)...but I did it!!..and I still love the white stuff.

it involves a fire, some 30 year old scotch and some adult novelties.

Sitting in front of a real fireplace to watch the flames and smell the burning wood.
Cuddle up with a special someone drinking some hot chocolate or Grog.

Or being outside and riding through the fresh powder snow :D

:rose:

Making plans for moving away from the cold when I finish school lol. Snow is beautiful...from a safe distance.

Other then that nailing my brothers with a snowball is always good fun. :D

Shoveling

a half foot or more of snow off the driveway.

Halfway through, the heat billows off your body, the sweat pours down your limbs, and when you finish, you know to your bones you've accomplished something.

Walk through the garage stripping as you go, then through the house naked as a jaybird and just as arrogant. If you feel particularly frisky, grab your SO for some intense, immediate gratification. If you want to push that dominating envelope, demand a tongue bath.

Turning off all the lights in the house and looking outside the window while it snows. We have a view of the park from my window. It is great sight! Though I hate to shovel it, the whole snowing effect still mezmorizes me.

And then just as you are having your R&R the city snow plow goes by on the street and covers your driveway again...this time with two feet of hard packed snow....:D

Sorry, i do.

Makes step 4 all that more fun. Whom do you think would regret the snow more, the shoveler, or the SO inside?

In that case, return to step one, but step four takes on heavier consequences for the SO in the house.

Hey come to Montreal. For a real treat I will even let you shovel the snow. We are expecting 2 centimeters everyday for the next five days...sigh...And for an extra special treat it will like minus 20 when you are shoveling. Oh let the fun begin. :D

::whimper:: its beautiful ... but cold and heavy.

now, sex.. sex is always great no matter what it is doing outside.

Here is mine...

I wait for the big fluffy pretty flakes to fall.
Take a steaming hot shower.
Wrap up in my favorite robe and sit by the fire.
Then i go on my back porch and stand there with my eyes closed. I like the way snow sounds....muffled quiet, kinda peaceful. It doesnt feel cold when it snows here, dunno about elsewhere, and everything is very still.
Now the next part i suggest everyone try at least once.

Slip the robe off, eyes still closed. Listen to the snowflakes touching your warm skin, feeling the cold like random tiny pin pricks. Feel the flakes melt and the water droplets roll down your body, off your hair and eyelashes... and begin to get warm from the heat of your body. Silence, darkness, and a million sensations all over all at once. :D

Snowboarding!!!

It's the best when it's snowing... when I went over thanksgiving they got over 14" one of the days, it's nice because most people wuss out and the mountain is dead, yet you get the best snow and it's so quiet.

Flying out to California for another four days right after xmas. :D

to do when it is snowing?

Assuming that it is only a few inches of snow and that I don't have to drive in it, my most fav thing to do is watch my puppy dog romeo play in the snow. He loves it...and it is especially cute when he tries to sniff at something under the snow and ends up with a snowy nose. :) Although it ceases to be cute when he comes back inside and comes over to give his mama puppy kisses and I get nosed by a very cold dog nose.

OTher then that, I prefer to avoid snow at all costs. Snow means it is winter and winter means its coooold in the house. *brrr* Old house = many drafty windows.

You know? Snow is really shitty to drive in. Well, most of that shitty is the other drivers who can't figure out that the stuff is slick. If I were the only one on the road, it wouldn't be so bad, but I have to share it with a bunch of crazy people, and we're all racing the clock to work.

Last January, I gor run off the road by a sleepy snowplow driver. I guess he didn't see me, and I had to swerve to miss the blade. It was about to slice into my car. Well, I hit the curb instead and it cost me nearly $400 to get my car back on the road. The snowplow just kept on going, seeminly oblivious of what had happened.

Then, comes the first time you have to make it out to the mailbox. To get there, you have to scoop you a path. That ain't good on the ol' back, let me tell ya'. Even if you have a good back, it's not any fun. And, the deeper it is, or if it's a wet snow (like the last one we had), it's down right agony.

Now, if I had my rathers, I'd love to spend the day in the house, maybe making some spicy chilli. Of course, a nice warm woman would be there, too. I'd also like to have a fire, if I had a fireplace.

Yep, snow is very pretty, when you don't have to drive in it or scoop it up out of the way. Snowball fights are great, with those wet snows. Snowmen, or other snow creatures are fun to make. And, when I was a kid, I remember making a fort, using a wooden box to form the snow. It lasted for about two weeks before finally melting.

If the snow is deep enough, digging a tunnel or igloo is fun. But, again, that has to be with wet snow. The dry stuff doesn't pack.

I remember a storm when I was a kid (ions ago), when it snowed several feet, one April. It doesn't usually snow that late in the year, but it can and does when Mother Nature happens to be feeling pissy. Then, we had an ice storm on top of that snow that put about 1 inch of ice on top.

That was long before I could drive, so it was a fond memory for me. Drifts of over 6 feet that we kids could walk on, because of the ice crust. And, every once in a while we would fall through and have to dig our way out. It was great!

Outside when the area is covered with snow, the acoustics are great. No echos, for the most part, because the snow absorbs them. It's very quiet and almost spiritual. Pure white, all fluffy and clean, covering all of the nasty dirt of a city...then the slushy crap that follows, when it starts to melt on the roads.

Now, times have changed, and such a storm would be very nasty, like the ice storm of 2001 that devastated the mid-west U.S. The ice was too heavy for the trees, and the limbs broke under that weight. The limmbs knocked down power lines and phone lines so, it was, well, a mess.

But, I digress...

I like many things about snow. But, they tend to balance out equally against the many things I don't like about snow. It all depends on if I have to be somewhere, or if I can just relax and enjoy it. But, I do have fond memories of my childhood. Bus drivers can't drive very well in the snow. WE ALWAYS GOT OFF FROM SCHOOL!!

jsut a few...

1) shoveling.
I don't know why but when i can see direct results of my actions i really like it, plus i can make little paths and it feels like a maze or secret pathways... Shoveling always seems to yeild direct results...
2) cleaning the car.
when i was younger i really liked going out after about an inch of sno had fallen, to clean the car... it was sorta the easy wayof shoveling.. i saw direct results. I sill love doing it too... i like getting it before it all turns to ice...
3) Sledding
yup, still do it.
4) snow angels
Just get bundled up, sweatpants under windbreakers lean back and FLOP. the hard part is getting up without ruining your creation.
5) Writing my name in the snow...
If you hold your lips back the right way women can do it too... it took a lot of practice and a secluded corner of the backyard. Thankfully my name is short.
6) snow creations...
From snowmen to snow castels, i treat the stuff like it's moist sand and go at it... My most infamious creation... the great snow ball wall of 03' (look at picture)
7) Just walking around.
I have a lot of busy intersections and highways near my house... i grab my lantern, cloak and i wander out to these now amazingly deserted intersections and highways and i stand right int he middle of them... It's jsut such an intresting feeling.. mother nature still rules us...
8) spin fire...
I haven't done it yet seeing as i only started spinning fir this month but i've heard the fire glowing off the snow is brilliant...
9) the feeling of putting on a fresh pair of clean pj's after your other stuff got soaked through and cold not hearing the normal traffic and bustle outside and jsut enjoying the comapny of your house, family and animals...
10) animal tracks...
I love seeing all the little animals tracks... as soon as it stops snowing we put pie tins full of birdseed and dogfood out for the animals and we get these amazing tracts...
11) Indoor animals... wether it's the dogs plaiyng in the wsnow and burrying their muzzles in it and flicking it around, ot us grabbing one of our indoor lazy housecats and flinging them out into a snow dune for a shock of their life, it will always be amusing.
