What is your greatest fear?

I'd love to hear your deepest fears for story ideas, and hopefully inspire others to try their hand at horror.

I tried to do this as a poll, but for reasons unknown, it wouldn't work (sigh).

For me, my greatest fear is spiders, followed closely by having my throat cut. I can't even read about someone's throat being cut LOL

Being suffocated is probably my greatest fear, which could make a good BSDM story in which a heavyset dominatrix sits on the face of the person, male or female, who suffers from this fear, maybe as a deliberate part of the domination-submission dynamic. If you'd like to write a story like this, it might be fun--and scary!

Second greatest fear? Finding myself in a small dark space, unable to move or escape.

I think it would be really scary to wake up and find out you have little or no control of your body.(probably best to keep control of body functions)

My greatest fear is snakes. *shudders* But I have one better. I fear that when I find the perfect guy it turns out that he is really a psycho, satanic serial killer that is going to use me as a human sacrific. Sorta like Jack the Ripper reincarnated but with more mental issues.

Lighting and airplanes are mine. Hum… Not to bad maybe. Plane is struck by lighting over the freezing Atlantic Ocean, no chance of survival if they go down and it’s going down. Not to fast mind you. It’s a ruff ride after the strike, the pilot is doing his best to keep the plane up, but things just keep getting worse. The worse it gets, the more people start realizing they’re going to die. Most everyone is scared, but a few say to hell with it, if I’m dying I’m going out doing what we love to do the most. A couple start fucking, then a few more until you have a mass orgy. You could set up the characters so the reader has some background on several passengers. That way you can have a straight guy maybe doing something he really wouldn’t have ever done, you know, he’s by a guy instead of a girl. All sorts of scenarios could be pulled out here. Of course the punch line has to be that the pilot stabilizes the flight and they make it home. Honey, how was you’re flight? Oh, not to bad, I blew the guy next to me and the whole plane broke out in a mass orgy. Oh maybe not, I’m betting he keeps that to himself.

I'm doing a thriller, and want to incorporate as many fears as I can into it.

Kinda a serial killer storyline, but not quite ;-)

Although curiously enough, skydiving does not bother me while being on a high ladder or ledge does bug me.

I don't like those medium heights either.

The way I figure it:
I'll survive a small fall, maybe break something
I won't survive a huge fall, definite breakage of alot of bones
Medium heights can break anything or nothing depending on how you land. I fell on my chest once and just had the air knocked out, but if I had fallen on my head I'd probably be dead.

Really steep stairs with small steps bug me too
