What is your favorite flower?

Marcel Proust, at the age of 20 answered that question as follow:

Q: What is your favorite flower?
A: Hers - but apart from that, all

And this - at the age of 20 as well:

Q: What is your favorite color?

A: Beauty lies not in colors but in their harmony

Wow is right! Good for you, Bratcat. :)

My favorite flower?

Sunflower or red poppies.

That's great, cat! :D

My favorite flower is the daisy...soo simply beautiful!

THat's really sweet that someone sent you flowers at work. It's never been done for me, but I love the idea of it. My favorite flower is the tigerlily.

I've loved them ever since I was little. My older sister and I used to take the nectar (I think there was nectar in it- hard for me to remember, I was so young) out of it and taste it. Aside from the good memories, I think it's a bautiful flower, and represents me well. :)

Wildflowers

Any type of wildflower what so ever. I love all of them, especially the ones that look like they came from the yard.

I have to admit that I detest roses. Way too normal for me.

For elegance and sophistication, because they last an incredibly long time as cut flowers, and because i find them so sensual as to be almost sexual, it's orchids for me.

The Gardinia or Cherry Blossom. I love the way cherry trees look in spring, but the gardinia has such a wonderful scent. Vanilla Orchids are the close third.

I grew up in the Southwest and always loved my Mom and Dad's Bottlebrush tree.

As for flowers up here, I love it each spring when the Trilliums are in bloom.

Wild Flowers...any and all. I like a lot of variety, not just one color or shape. I do like all flowers though.

A bright orange poppy, just like in the Georgia O'Keefe painting.

Okay it's cliched but for me it is Roses. I have 4 big gardens full of 'em... 117 different at the last count, and three big planter boxes full of miniatures. Nothing more relaxing than the daily round of my plants... :)

*sigh* This sounds so beautiful. :)

I love old fashioned scented roses. The smell of a rose, watching a rose grow, bud and unfurl is true beauty.

A Simple rose

By Debbiexxx

Do you know, perfect little rose
How sweet you smell to my nose?

As sun shines, and the birds sing
Your soft dewy petals glistening

I watched you bloom and grow
Opening so slowly you know

You are a gift of nature to me
Beauty, as simple as can be

I got suckered into it by my SO. It started out as her hobby and has become mine. I love the poem Debbie...:)

i dont have a favorite.. since i've never gotten any from anyone (at least that i can remember)

I have always loved Dianthus'. It is a small, delicate, pretty flower with a very strong sweet smell. When I was a kid, I would grab handfuls from my moms garden and put them in little water glasses and place all over my room.

It's my favorite smell next to vanilla.

I am traditional...

Peach longstem roses. Also love yellow.

Love the smell of lilacs. We had three bushes growing beside our house where I grew up. Honeysuckle is a wondeful smell too.

my favourites

I'm with Kiwiwolf--roses, 'specially the dark red ones

and gardenias, the smell is intoxicating

but I also love the wild Louisiana iris--all purple and gold, like my Tigers...

favorite flower

The orchid. When young we used to find the Lady Slipper variety in the woods but now they are endangered, although I saw one a few years ago (and let it be, hoping it would proprogate!)

I order bouquets of all varieties during the winter and paint watercolors....orchids are definitely sexual, they have very defined male and female parts! I've watched the sweet nectar of male orchid ooze right out...and the female parts change color before my eyes!

This is one of my paintings of a Mokara Orchid, very exotic....

Gerbera Daisies for you, sweets, and i wish they were real. *Every* woman deserves flowers, frequently and for no reason. (Tell your man i said that.)

Cyn1959, your painting is really lovely. You might want to look up Starfish, another talented Lit artist (one of many we have here).
