What is your favorite childhood memory?

The Christmas I was nine. I got a book of science experiments and my dad gave me a lot of bits and pieces so that I could do some of the electrical experiments. I also got two Nancy Drew books.

There was a lot of other stuff that year, but what I remember is sitting up very late putting together a doorbell. It was great.

SO what did the lil nine year old scientist destroy in the lab?

:p

Biology wasn't encouraged. Nor was chemistry, for sound reasons proven later. You'd think they'd have learned when they made me take cooking, but nooooo, I had to take chemistry too. Ka-BOOM!

No, this was just stuff to complete an electrical circuit and power things like a light bulb, the doorbell, an elecromagnet, and stuff like that.

The day my youngest sister finally came home from the hospital. She had to stay in the hospital for several weeks after she was born due to some problems with her eyes. I was only 6 & convinced that she wasn't ever coming home. I got to name her & we have been best friends ever since. After my son & parents, she is the person I love most in the world.

My first Toe-recital

*grins* You all know the toe shoes.. those nice pointy, hard toed shoes the "ballerina's" dance on.

I was fourteen. We were doing Swan Lake (what dance class doesn't? *w*) It was the best time I've ever had in my life. Being in front of people, knowing that they were watching me... It was unbelievable.

I don't have a single memory that I look back to- but i have many memories of the things I did that I enjoyed very much...

Playing and exploring in the woods...
Playing football... swimming... riding my bike...
Those nights and days when my older brother and I would not even venture to the front of the house because we so busy with mischief in the back of the house... (like cutting holes in mom's sheets so we could build a tent... hehehe)
Family gatherings at my grandparents- always interesting because when the city cousins and country cousins got together... something interesting would always happen...
Going to church... going to school... walking to school and all of the things that would happen on the way....
All the times I got in trouble.... (I am glad I did it and I still am!)
Roaming around the neighborhood with all the other kids...

Playing kick-the-can through twilight until mom called us in... and then the inevitable bath... bedtime at 8:30...

Fishing with my dad. Just the two of us in the rowboat, him teaching my how to bait the hook, cast, reel in the line when I got a bite :)...I miss my dad alot, he passed away 7 years ago. Even though I am in my 40's some of my best memories are of my dad.

favorite memories

All of my pretend and imaginary playing.

Played grocery store and sunday school with my Dad and my array of stuffed animals and he used to tell me made up stories about Little Orphan Annie and others as I fell asleep at night.

Watching old TV shows that I loved...Saturday Morning cartoons, Carol Burnett show, Waltons, Emergency etc.

You're not alone, hon. Not with your Lit Family here.

:) Thank you Feather. But I didn't exactly mean it like that. I know I'm not alone.
I just menat that back then I had a father, a mother, uncle aunt nephew sister. That I could rely on.

And I dont anymore. they kicked me out because they thought I'm a loser.

my favorite childhood memories all seem to revolve around my oldest sister. when she was 16 or 17 and i was ten, she took me into nyc for my birthday. itallian dinner at a real restaurant and a movie...we spent all the money she had and had to panhandle train fare back home...the best day of my early life.

Classic car shows with my dad. I was always daddy's girl and he started taking me with when I was about 10. It was tradition and even after I moved out, we stiill went. The last show we went to together, I was about 7 months pregnant and it was the most special one I can remember.

My favorite memory is........

:p

Ok, this will sound terrible...but:

When I was a child my grandfather owned a butcher shop, and all the family worked there. So my cousins and I would play hide and seek in the meat locker between all the slabs of cows and pigs. Hey, its a memory...

One of the christmasses when it snowed (it generally never snows more than maybe one night a year where I grew up), I came home after having a snowball fight and my dad had built a snowman. Not one of the dumpy ones you usually see but an amazing Michaelangelo job. It was in the front garden and got lots of stares (possibly because my dad had given it an arse which faced out into the street and was naked, no genitalia though). We've got photos and it was a bit stocky, weel maybe it had to be, but to me it was amazing.

spending time with my family

it has to be christmas when i was little.the whole family would come together at a sweet time of the year.

I lived in such a horrid violent home, I really don't have any favorite childhood memories other than when I was invited by my friends families to go on vacations, etc. Actually that happened quite a bit and I always had a great time. I guess I would say Christmas at my house was pretty good because I was relatively confident I would not see violence. Pretty Pathetic.
